I'm not sure exactly what I did to tell you the truth. I followed your instructions the best I could, but my operating system, which is Windows * and my version of Thunderbird for some reason did not exactly match your instructions so I just followed your cues and clicked the tabs that I felt best matched and ended up changing my secure mail key and then checked ?make an exception to the certificate" and it worked!
