Wednesday, November **, ******Dear Starbucks,**Over the last two weeks, I have driven a little over *,*** miles in a rented car on a long-awaited vacation in California. I visited a number of Starbucks establishments drinking my fill of coffee but I was mainly searching for your “Been There” series of cups. In particular, I was looking for the San Diego cup. After almost two weeks, I stumbled across some in an unlikely Von’s Grocery Store in Mira Mesa and made a purchase. I was ecstatic. **I had already purchased a California cup, a Disney California Adventure cup and a small Disney Fantasy Land cup during my travels. I hand-carried all of my Starbucks cups home without a hitch, among some well-padded ***-year-old Limoges soup bowls.**Last night I lovingly hand-washed a San Diego cup and my Disney California Adventure cup with a sponge and warm soapy water to get them ready to use. As I was putting them in the dish drainer, they slightly shifted in my hand and clinked into each other. Not a big clink, but a really small clink. (no joke here.) I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears when I saw and heard the mugs chip and crack right there and then. Both mugs are unusable now. : (**One of the cups is chipped in three different places on the top and the other one has a crack all the way down the inside. How, could this possibly happen? The two mugs BARELY touched each other. Now my San Diego mug and my Disney California Adventure mug are unusable because of barely a clink? (Funnily enough, the mugs I bought for my friends remain pristine in their boxes.) Ugh!**Starbucks, I am appealing to you and your sense of fairness and quality assurance. Your mugs, though not exorbitantly expensive should not chip and shatter so easily.**These cups represent keeping just a little piece of my daughter's life near me. While I live in Maryland, my daughter who is just **, lives in San Diego and is a cast member at Disney California Adventure. That’s **** miles or so between us. Starbucks Coffee is something we can share across the miles while we’re apart most of the year. Is there anything you can do about sending replacements? I’m upset about this.**Sincerely,**Cassandra Baker****** Fairview Road*Hagerstown, MD *****
