Case******** submitted July *, *****On June **, **** at the Golden Triangle Mall in Denton, Texas I used an American Express gift card in the amount of $***.** to pay for a portion of the cost of an outdoor grill. When my purchase was rung up I was told by the sales person that the card could not be processed. I paid for the purchase with my personal debit card. After the transaction, I checked on the balance of the American Express card I attempted to use and found that the card had been debited for its full amount of $***.**. I returned to the counter where the transaction took place and asked to see the store manager. A young woman who identified herself as the manager, and who she said was the replacement for the previous manager who had been fired the previous day. The store manager would not accept the info on my phone which showed the AmEx card had indeed been hit by Sears only a short time prior to our exchange. She also would not reverse my debit transaction saying she did not have the authority since the store is in liquidation. I walked away paying almost double the amount of the cost of the grill with no recourse for recouping the $***.** from the gift card OR a credit to my personal debit card. I filed a complaint on July *, but there has been no resolution when I have followed up on my case *. *I will be forced to take further legal action if this issue does not result in a credit for the amount on my debit card or the $***.** restored to my AmEx gift card. I have been a Sears customer for many years, but will no longer shop at any Sears store because of this incident. *Janie Grimes
