I just walked into my local Panera (*** near Bitters in San Antonio) right at *:**pm). There were a few people ordering at the counter with one employee. I was immediately approached by another employee behind the counter, and asked if I had just come in the door. I said yes, and then was told that the store was closed, that it closed at * (as I said it was *), and was no longer taking orders. I explained that I only wanted a bagel, but again was told that the store was closed and that I could not order. As this was not a normal closing time, I asked why and was told that they were having a holiday Christmas party. I have no problem with the store honoring their employees and having a party, but I feel that the employee that directed me out the door was abrupt and a bit rude. Especially given that I only wanted a bagel and probably could have completed my order before the other people at the counter were finished. I have generally been very happy with Panera, but this experience left me not wanting to return, at least not to this particular store.
