Dear Cooperate, **My Name is Michael Bachard a local resident in the Meadow Woods BVL area Orlando FL *****. As I visited the LA Fitness for the first time ever I was racially profiled by the “Operations Manager” of location **** E Osceola Parkway Kissimmee FL *****. I was invited by a close friend who had been a member of the facility for * years. While trying to use his VIP guest pass to test out the facility. I was approached by “Melissa “ who was not in uniform but seemed to just finish her workout at the time. Literally drenched in sweat as I can recall, she came behind the front desk with a hostile demeanor toward me and my close friend barking “If you guys came to play basketball in our gym you cannot use the guess pass and it’s going to cost you $**.** for the day pass” and turned her back away from us rolling her eyes and disrespecting our whole presence. I then myself thought to myself wow who is this lady coming out of nowhere being very mean and racist profiling us to come only for “Basketball”. I then spoke to her saying “ma’am excuse me” ? She repeated you cannot use the gym today! In a very rude fashion. I explained myself to her setting the pre consumptive idea of her thought that we would only be here to play “Basketball” as a young Black African American Male. I felt very uncomfortable and unappreciated having it been my first time stepping foot into this LA FITNESS facility. I also feel like I was racially profiled as a black man. What really hurt me was when I asked ma’am “Who are you”? And she replied I am actually the operations manager here” disgusted was what I felt to be approached by a civilian looking lady. Who was not in uniform of any type to be insulted and humiliated in front of serval individuals using the facilities equipment at the time and even one gentleman employee who witness the the poor customer service of an “operations manager “ she stated the reason she came was because she was called down by an employee which my friend called over to help us with the guest pass. Who was actually leaving the gym at the moment of us arriving with only ** minutes til closing which was *pm on this Saturday evening **********. She also stated the reason she stopped her workout and belligerently approached me and my close friend was she heard a commotion during me and the front desk gentleman. Which in the case was being very helpful and actually suggested for me to print the two week free guest pass. Which I was in the middle of doing before “Melissa” the operations manager abruptly interrupted me and racially singled me and my friend “existing member” of the club out in front of everybody. As a member of the community I feel like things could’ve been handled a lot more accordingly especially working as a Delta Airlines customer service agent especially due to the fact that “Melissa” wasn’t initially there to greet or ask me what was the we’re my concerns to begin with. To receive this type of treatment today made me realize that even the head of operations, who’s representing LA FITNESSES facility can be racist and very rude, unprofessional. After she had walked behind the desk speaking to another employee I was then greeted by a gentlemen which happened to be very nice and appealing helping me sign up for a * week membership trial. But honestly after being done with my workout with my close friend who is a “member” and has a plus one ** guest pass specifically made for friends or family. I don’t think I feel welcomed by Mrs. Melissa the “operations manager” for this site because she initially thought I came to play “BASKETBALL” like all the other African Americans who pay for the services of LA FITNESS. What’s really fascinating is neither do I “PLAY BASKETBALL“ not even watch the sport to understand her thought process. I want something to be done as far as some type of reconciliation or suspension for such poor customer service today which I had to experience in order to use the equipment at this facility today. I’m hurting inside this is my reason for expressing myself at *:**AM eastern time. While I should be asleep but I couldn’t sleep. I feel like this was a dream because you usually see these things on television screens of minorities being racially insulted. But unfortunately now I know how that felt as a human being to be treated by someone who wasn’t in uniform but claims to be the “operation manager”. Disgusting, Disrespectful and Disgraceful to the LA FITNESS BRAND and cooperation to have someone in such high authoritative power as OPERATIONS MANAGER!
