KMART IS OUT OF CONTROL WITH TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ITS CUSTOMERS BY OVERCHARGING AND KEEPING MONEY THAT THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO!!!!!!!!!! LAST TIME I HEARD OF SUCH BEHAVIOR IT WAS CONSIDERED TO BE ILLEGAL. I FULLY INTEND TO PERSUE THIS ISSUE UNTIL ACCEPTABLE RESOLUTION. I have no intention to file complaints in order to get it off my chest and then come tomorrow, let by gones be by gones. *TONIGHT.....*I just returned from trying to EXCHANGE some items that were bought as Christmas gifts but the person that they were purchased for was not able to make it for the Holidays after all. I have all receipts. The receipts plainly state ** day return for SYW MEMBERS of which I AM A MEMBER. When I went to customer service for the EXCHANGE a young person by the name of Leo proceeds to tell me (in a perturbed manner, as if it was such a bother for him to deal with the issue) that I cannot exchange the merchandise as it is past ** days while looking right at the receipt with the ** day info. Reminding him of the words stated on the receipt claiming otherwise he mumbles something of old policy, and states "can't override the prompt therefore they are not exchangeable". No ifs, ands or buts, not even a sorry, nothing just NO!!!!! *When these items were purchased I confirmed with this exact store, the return policy just in case there was a problem with timing or questionability with these gifts, as was the case. At that time I was assured that there would be no problem. Returns up to ** days.... Now I am told this was the old policy and this store doesn't offer that. After questioning him and not receiving any type of information that was useful I asked to speak with the manager, Mr. Hamilton is the name that was given to me. Well what do you know, surprise surprise, the manager is not available nor is an assistant manager. At this point now I am stuck with about $** worth of stuff that I have no use for. With this type of customer treatment no wonder KMART is failing and nearing the end. KMART HAS BECOME NOTHING BUT A RIP-OFF Organization who takes advantage of their customers every opportunity they get. *They hire employees who could care less about their jobs or how they represent the company. Then there is the so called managers, which, most of them couldn't manage themselves in a professional manner if their life depended on it. Yet these people are given the authority to make decisions regarding my hard earned money. It's really a shame as I used to shop at KMART regularly but this is the final straw. The most absurd part of all this is I was EXCHANGING these items for other items, not asking for a return of any dollar amount, as well as intending to do my weekly shopping for household cleaners, pet food, laundry supplies, toiletries and some makeup items as well as possibly a couple new sweaters and a new pair of pajamas. The denial of the outlined EXCHANGE cost KMART much more that just a customer tonight. The fact that KMART is selling things using fraudulent claims regarding their returns policy illegal. I will be contacting the proper Offices that handle these issues, as well as the Better Business Bureau and KMART Corporate Offices first thing tomorrow. I will continue researching and calling whom ever I must until I receive an acceptable outcome to this situation. Nothing less than a refund, per KMARTS POLICY would be acceptable as far as I'm concerned. Given my time spent going to the store and attempting to have the items exchanged to all the time spent in phone calls and posts I feel that is a bare minimum. Some type of compensation as well, for my trouble, as in a credit or gift card the very least they could do besides returning the actually money owed. I know the chances of that happening are about as likely to happen as pigs flying. Just had to get my opinion it there.
