The issue in GetHuman-tylabsfd's own words
I booked a round trip flight for my sister and me from SFO to Seattle, WA. The basic fare was shown as $***.** which clearly states it included all taxes and fees. ($**.** * $**.** (taxes) * $***.** *Final total price (taxes & fees included) While go through the booking process, an option appears that allows me to "upgrade" to for $*.** per person, per flight. This would allow us to select our seats and not be the last to board the plane. I chose the option which would add $**.** per ticket. (This would make each ticket $***.**.) I was able to select our seats so that we would be assured that we could sit together on our flights. When I gave my payment information, the total came to $***.**. I called to speak to a service representative and she told me that by selecting our seats there was an additional charge. I explained that the additional $**.** charge allowed me a seat selection choice. She kept repeating that seat selection was an additional charge. I said it is very clear that the initial price of $***.** includes all taxes and fees. The additional $*.** includes an upgrade with seat selection. The rep said it is very common to charge for seat selection. I said I reviewed all your billing and upgrade choices and no where did it state that there was a "seat selection" fee separate from the upgrade option. All the rep could tell me is that's how it is and it is commonly done. I explained that it needs to be clearly stated that there is a "seat selection" fee separate from the upgrade option fee. You clearly state your what is included in the basic fare and what is included in the upgrade, why can't you disclose the "seat selection" fee? I would like two things: *) clearly state the upgrade from basic economy does not include the "seat selection" fee - if there even is one* and *) since there is clearly does not show a "seat selection" fee, I should be refunded $**.** per ticket or $**.** total.*Tyrene Labutan
