Letter to the Editor or Op-Ed Dear Editors, The news headlines in the United States have become excessively negative, risking the positive attitudes of those striving to better their communities. While the media must fulfill its duty to expose corruption, the focus on negative stories has overshadowed the efforts of individuals dedicated to improving society. The significant cutbacks in investigative journalism have hindered the public's awareness of crucial issues. While it is essential to hold those in power accountable, there is a need for more coverage of the positive contributions made by volunteers and public servants worldwide. These unsung heroes work tirelessly to address pressing social and environmental challenges, from providing housing for the less fortunate to supporting food banks and assisting the homeless. It is important to strike a balance in reporting, acknowledging both the need to combat corruption and the inspiring efforts of individuals working towards positive change in their communities. Let us not forget the valuable work being done by these dedicated individuals amidst the noise of negative headlines. Sincerely, Dennie Williams PO Box [redacted], 56 Brush Hill Rd. I am interested in ordering the "Greater Hartford Memories" book available through the Courant. However, I am unable to proceed with the online purchase as it requires a Paypal account, which I do not have. There seems to be an issue with the "Buy it Now" button, as I am unable to locate it on the website. I would prefer to use a credit card for payment through an automated system rather than sharing my details with a person. I have switched from using [redacted] to [redacted] due to the influx of spam emails on Yahoo. For immediate assistance, please reach out to me at [redacted]. Thank you.

I did not receive the newspaper this past week from March 3-8. I spoke with Mary from the Philippines who assured me that the paper would arrive today, but it did not. It seems that they are charging customers without providing the promised service. Despite their explanation of delayed trucks, the carriers should still be delivering the papers. I am seeking an explanation as to why our papers were not delivered and request the contact information for a district manager. I would like to speak with Brian McEnery at the earliest convenience. The Hartford Courant ought to fulfill the delivery of the papers that they are billing us for.

Due to the delivery driver's leaking car and the absence of a paper box as requested months ago, the newspaper is consistently thrown on the driveway. This becomes an issue during heavy rain, like today, leaving the paper drenched. It seems unfair that the delivery person refuses to walk up the driveway to leave the paper on the front porch, especially since they perform this service for neighbors. If this persists, I may have to cancel my subscription to the Courant. I have been a dedicated customer for over 50 years and enjoy reading the paper daily.

Hi, I'm Todd J. I am writing on behalf of my mother, Iola J., who recently had her newspaper subscription restarted on 6/12/[redacted]. Despite numerous calls to the Courant over the last four days, the paper has not been delivered to her at Saint Mary Home in West Hartford, CT. She can be reached at [redacted]. Her subscription started when she lived at The McAuley, part of the same campus. I kindly request assistance in resolving this issue with the carrier as my mother is eager to receive her paper. Thank you.

I have not received a paper six times this month, including today. Every time I call, I'm told that the distributor will be notified, but usually nothing happens, and I end up buying a paper. I asked for a call from someone in the Hartford office and was told someone would call me yesterday, but the call never came. I asked for a call today between 3-5 pm, and we will see what happens. I have never been treated as shabbily by any company I have ever done business with. Not being able to talk to anyone in Hartford is extremely frustrating.

I am missing several sections of Sunda's Courant. I have contacted the delivery service multiple times but have yet to receive the missing sections. My first call was made just after 7 a.m. when I only received 3 sections of the paper. My last call was slightly after noon, but the office was closed by then. Despite being promised delivery by noon, the missing sections never arrived. I specifically request the missing sections, including the advertisements. Furthermore, five other residents in my apartment building also did not receive complete papers. I am disappointed by the lack of customer service at the Courant. As a loyal 92-year-old reader, the Courant has always been a part of my home, and we have made significant subscriptions payments over the years. It would be greatly appreciated if this matter could be addressed promptly.

I have been a loyal customer for nearly three decades. Unfortunately, I've noticed a significant decline in the delivery service quality over the past six months. Repeatedly, my Sunday paper has not been delivered as expected. This issue culminated in a frustrating experience where I was promised a morning delivery that arrived days later. Today, on September 29th, once again the Sunday paper was missing. Despite assurances of a morning delivery, it is nearly 4 PM and the paper has not arrived. The customer service representatives seem more focused on offering empty apologies and false promises rather than resolving issues efficiently. Despite having recently renewed my subscription until December 2, [redacted], I am considering ending my long-term subscription due to the escalating costs and declining service standards. While I understand the challenges newspapers face in the digital age, poor customer service only exacerbates the situation. Please refrain from generic apologies and promises of credits in your email response. Thank you.

For 11 months, I have been trying to resolve an issue with my newspaper delivery. When the Courant changed the delivery location to the road, the manager assured me I would continue to receive my paper between my storm door and front door. The previous delivery person, Amanda, honored this daily. However, the current delivery person does not. Despite multiple calls to customer service and requests to the manager, the problem persists. In the past, as a former Claim Manager for the Hartford, I understood the importance of addressing customer concerns promptly. Even back in [redacted] when I delivered the Courant, we provided excellent customer service. Unlike the Courant, the Journal Inquirer still delivers my paper as requested. It is disheartening that the Courant does not show the same consideration for disabled and elderly customers. If the situation remains unresolved, I may resort to sharing my experience on social media to alert others facing similar challenges.

The contractor does not use the paper box provided by the Courant and instead throws it on the ground, requiring me to retrieve it. I discovered the paper in a drainage ditch 50 feet from my driveway, and yesterday I almost slipped on the ice while trying to retrieve it. Despite contacting the company at least twice, the issue persists. If this matter is not addressed promptly, I will cancel my subscription, as I am unwilling to search for the paper in the snow. The Courant, being the oldest paper in the US, should ensure that more responsible contractors are hired for delivery and that customer service representatives are more effective.

I have attempted to contact customer service multiple times regarding the delivery of my newspaper to my front door. However, for the past two days, the paper has been left at my neighbor's front door despite my requests. I also inquired about the courier's name to provide a tip when they deliver to my actual front door. I live at 34 King Edward Road, the White cape cod house on the right side from Simsbury Road. My contact number is [redacted] for texts as I have difficulty walking, especially in the morning at 88 years old. I appreciate your assistance as my 94-year-old enjoys reading the paper. Thank you and happy holidays. Sincerely, Jean Selinger

I have called five times requesting for my paper to be placed at my front door. Yesterday and today, my neighbor had their paper at their front door while mine was at the end of my driveway. My house is located at 34 King Edward Road in West Hartford, the white cape cod on the right-hand side coming from Simsbury Road. I would also like to know the carrier's name so that if the paper is placed at the front door, I can give a nice tip. This request is for December 12. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday. - Jean

I've noticed that my experience with the Hartford Courant has changed. With the convenience and lower cost of getting information from my cell phone and TV, I find that I no longer derive the same value from the paper. Since my delivery person retired, my paper now arrives later, at 8:30 in the morning, when I am already occupied with other tasks. After being a loyal customer for over 50 years, I have decided that it's time for me to cancel my subscription. I appreciate your understanding and kindly ask that you refrain from trying to change my decision.

Good afternoon, My name is Dr. Rochelle Jones, and I reside at 16 Richard Lane, Bloomfield, CT. I received an advertisement from the Hartford Courant via U.S. mail for delivery service on Thursdays and Sundays. I mailed check #[redacted] for $95.52 on December 7, [redacted], but I have not received any newspapers at my address until today. I have contacted the company twice, but my newspapers were not delivered, and there seems to be an issue with my payment proof. I am disappointed with the lack of response and the inconvenience this has caused. I kindly request that my check be returned promptly. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely, Dr. Rochelle Jones 16 Richard Lane Bloomfield, CT. [redacted]

Today, my paper wasn't delivered. The phone system had trouble understanding my English, and I was transferred to someone with a difficult-to-understand accent. The delivery issue was supposedly resolved, and a paper should be on its way (hopefully not misplaced as in the past). I acknowledge there have been problems in the past with responsiveness to delivery concerns like pausing my vacation delivery. At this point, paying a high price for outdated news when I can get it elsewhere seems less appealing. Thank you for any advance apologies.

Today, on April 11th, the delivery person missed dropping off our paper. After requesting a redelivery online and speaking with a representative from subscriber services, we were assured the paper would arrive today. However, it is now 5:45 PM, and we still haven't received it. We prefer the physical paper over the digital version and are not interested in reading tomorrow's Sunday edition. Our previous delivery person was reliable until recently, and it seems like there may be a new person delivering who missed several deliveries this past month. When a guarantee is made for same-day delivery, it should be fulfilled. We are extremely disappointed with the service provided.

I am writing to express disappointment with the delivery service and customer assistance. Over the last 6 months, I repeatedly contacted [redacted] only to hear the same unhelpful response. Last Thursday, the paper was not delivered, despite calling [redacted] four times and being promised it would arrive. Today, once again, the paper did not arrive after receiving the same scripted answer and requesting to speak with a supervisor named Eileen/Irene. Despite assurances, the paper has not shown up even after noon. At 70 years old, I am required to search under stairs or a porch hutch for the paper due to careless delivery. I have been a loyal customer for 35 years, but after mentioning cancellation, the reply was casual. This level of service is unsatisfactory. I regret having prepaid over $90 and am open to canceling if this issue persists. I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer service and the lack of action taken.

I did not receive my newspaper this morning, and this issue occurs once or twice a month. Initially, I reported missed deliveries online, but despite requesting a paper, none arrived. Now, I call to speak with a representative. I have been promised delivery, but last month and again today, I did not receive my paper. Although this might seem insignificant, I pay for this service and expect my papers. This morning, Christine assured me of delivery, but the paper did not arrive. I am growing concerned about having to repeatedly request papers I have paid for. If I fail to receive a paper and do not get a replacement, what steps should I take? I hope to resolve this without continual calls. Thank you. Sincerely, Anna K., 27 Keeney St., Manchester, CT [redacted].

I have been receiving the newspaper on Thursdays through Sundays for one dollar per week. I am on a tight budget due to losing my job and being unable to work full-time. I have consistently paid my balance on time, but I have been having recurring issues with the paper deliveries. Despite my requests to speak with a supervisor, I have never been contacted. My paper delivery has been halted, which was not my fault. I would like to restart the delivery service, but I am unable to afford more than my current rate.

Our newspaper was delivered wet again today. I previously filed a complaint, but the issue persists. We request that the paper be left at our door under the overhang as usual. Lately, it has been thrown on the driveway, arriving late and ruined by the rain. We will no longer require the paper if delivery to our door cannot be guaranteed Thursday through Sunday. Kindly confirm this change. Thank you.
