On March I called SPEEDPAY and paid my FPL bill using my American Express card. The charge went through and I was given a confirmation number by SPEEDPAY.*I received my next FPL bill, and on it was the bill that I had paid, marked “Returned” and I was charged a $**. fee for this alleged return. I contacted American Express, and they told me that the charge went through fine, but for some unknown reason, FPL had returned it. I then contacted SPEEDPAY and asked them if the transaction went through to FPL. They also told me that the payment went through to FPL. *I then called FPL, and asked about this problem. The customer service person told me that I must have made a mistake entering the digits of my bank account. I told him that I had used American Express, and was told by both them as well as SPEEDPAY that the payment was made. I also asked him why it was returned. He said that his records show that the payment was received in March **th, and returned on March **th. I asked what could have taken twelve days and he didn’t know but refused to admit that it was FPL that had returned the payment. *I contacted SPEEDPAY again to use my American Express card to bring my FPL BILL current. I was informed by the agent that there was a credit card block on my account. She went on to tell me that she had never seen a situation like mine before. She say the payment being charged and paid to FPL. She had no idea why they returned it since it was paid to them like thousands of others had been done using a charge card with SPEEDPAY.*I am at a loss for how to have this corrected.
