How do i enter a second child on fafsa

Each individual child needs to fill out their own FAFSA form. If you have more than one child attending college, you cannot include them both on the same FAFSA form. Each student must complete his or her own form using their unique identifiers and information. While the process may feel redundant because you'll likely provide much of the same parental information on each form, it's necessary for the Department of Education to accurately issue need-based financial aid.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDENT CHANGES SCHOOLS AFTER ENROLLMENT

If a student changes schools after enrollment, they will need to add the new school to their FAFSA. To do this, they will log in to their FAFSA account, select the "Add or Delete a School Code" option, and provide the new school's Federal School Code. After adding the new school, they need to submit their updated FAFSA information. The new school will then have access to the student's FAFSA data and can determine the student's financial aid package. Note that financial aid may vary as it depends on the school's cost of attendance.

I did not enter the correct year IRS information for the FAFSA

If you've entered incorrect IRS information on your FAFSA, you can correct your mistakes. Log in to your FAFSA form and select "Make FAFSA Corrections." Go to the financial information section and update your answers, pulling in the correct tax information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool if possible. Afterwards, you must sign and submit your FAFSA again. Please ensure to correct your information as soon as possible, because inaccurate information can delay your financial aid process.

FAFSA won't save because of my alien number

The Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application requires an 8 or 9-digit Alien Registration Number for eligible noncitizens. If it isn't saving, ensure you're inputting the correct number from your permanent resident card (green card). If you're certain the number is correct and still having problems, it might be a technical issue with the FAFSA website. However, if FAFSA continues to reject your number, it's crucial to verify the number again, or understand if your residency status may be causing a problem.

Social security number not matched

If your Social Security Number (SSN) is not being matched on the FAFSA form, it might be due to a typo or mismatch with the details held by the Social Security Administration. Ensure that you have accurately keyed in your SSN as it appears on your Social Security card. If you've recently gone through any changes, like name change, it may not have updated in the Social Security Administration's records. In such case, it's recommended to visit the local Social Security office. Mismatched SSN can't be corrected through FAFSA, you'd have to correct it with Social Security Administration first. If all details are accurate and still there's a discrepancy, it's best to contact the Social Security Administration.
