EasyJet Flight cancellation**On Feb **,****, My wife and I booked round trip EasyJet flights from Gatwick to Edinburgh EZY*** departing August ** and Edinburgh to Gatwick EZY*** departing September*. On September * we also booked EasyJet flight EZY**** leaving Gatwick at *:** am to Palermo.**After traveling all day from Aberdeen, we got to Edinburgh airport and started the process to check our bags .After trying to do so we were finally advised by an agent that our flight had been cancelled and we would have to get in a lineup to talk to EasyJet agent about rescheduling our flights. WE stood in line for * *** hours until our turn came to talk to an agent.**We were quickly told that no flights were available and EasyJet could rebook us a flight to Gatwick on Tuesday September *rd. We explained that this would not work for us as we had to be in Gatwick at *:** the next morning to catch our next EasyJet flight to Palermo and connecting train reservations. We asked the agent to get us to Gatwick for our Palermo flight. We also asked the agent to look at competitor flights or trains or buses to get us there. After another hour he advised us he checked with his supervisor and had nothing for us. He advised us we would have to look after ourselves and book another means to get to Gatwick on our own. We told him that we did not have a phone plan for Scotland and simply could not do so.**We were never offered meal tickets or overnight hotel rooms.We were not sure why our flight got cancelled but the agent mentioned something about traffic control. The agent said we could apply to recover our cancelled flight costs and our hotel room that we would lose in Gatwick. **Luckly two sisters behind us also had to get to Gatwick that night as they had commitments the following day. The two sisters checked and no trains were available so they suggested we rent a car and drive to Gatwick. They had driven the highway before and assured us we would just get to the airport in time for our flight. We bought some food, the two girls rented a car and we left at *:**pm on our all night **** hour drive to Gatwick. We arrived in the Gatwick airport at *:** in the morning just in time to make our flight to Palermo.**are we entitled to compensation under EC ******** or are we just entitled to cost recovery of flight, meals and hotel room? Please advise.
