I moved to a new apartment and signed up for Earthlink's internet service a little over * months ago. When the technician came for the installation, it could not be installed properly at the time because of a grounding issue the property manager had to fix. The property manager fixed the issue. I called to have a technician sent out to fix the wiring* the wire was (and is) laying on the ground outside across the front door, which is a safety hazard per the property manager. Technician came out again, and said there was something else that had to be fixed by the property manager. Since the property manager was not on site when he came, he gave me his number to pass on to the property manager, which I did. The property manager attempted to call the technician for weeks without an answer, and was unable to leave a voice message because his inbox was not set up. A few weeks go by, I call Earthlink again to have a technician come out. I provided them with the property manager's office number, which they emailed to the technician. Another * weeks go by, there is no word from the technician, and the wire is still where it was * months ago. **Also, not too long after the installation, the wiring outside was struck by lightning, which caused the router to no longer work. I contacted Earthlink about that, they were going to send a new one, which was supposed to arrive *-* days later. A week goes by, I call, they tell me the order was never placed, and a new router should arrive in another *-* days. Another week goes by, I call, they say the order was accidentally canceled, a new router will arrive in *-* days. They never sent the new router. I had to get one from the technician when he came back the second time, which was about a month, more or less, after the wiring was struck by lightning. **I recently canceled my service and was charged a $*** early cancellation fee. Initially, I said that I was okay with that simply because I was tired of the back and forth, and just wanted the service canceled. But I would like there to be at least a reduction in the cancellation fee. I called numerous times over the past * months about issues that weren't really completely solved.
