Length of time that charge authorizations for incidental charges connected to hotel stays is questionable. Final charges are processed on checkout at Hilton affiliates, yet customer service at Bluebird says they are waiting on final amount from the merchant. This simply isn’t true. ** hours should be the maximum hold time. If it’s a rewards stay where no money is charged the money is held for two weeks ... there will be no final amount from the merchant because there has been no charge! Plus Amex Bluebird adds additional to the amount...I’ve asked hotels before what the authorization amount is and it’s always less than what shows on my Bluebird account. I could understand this practice more if these were the old days and merchants were submitting “batches” once a week or something but this is Hilton and it’s immediately submitted. Anyway, it’s not completely fair and customer service reps will read the policy over and over and lie about waiting to hear from the merchant.
