I am handicapped and cannot walk upstairs. Despite my indicating my status I was given an upstairs room or offered the option of pay *** plus more dollars to get a handicapped room. Out of my budget.**First, handicap options are not to be for sale to the highest bidder.**I made several calls to customer service and was told I could not change rooms.**On arrival I spoke to the conductor. She kindly gave me a downstairs room.**After that everything was wonderful. My cabin attendant Greg was awesome and delivered my meals.**If only the heater worked in my room it would have been a ** out of ** at that point.**During the booking process the whole situation would have been avoided if I had the option to select a downstairs room.**Outside of that it is hard to believe that Amtrak is allowed to operate outside of the current ADA laws.**Thank you
