I have booked a flight (London to Dublin and then Dublin to Philadelphia) and chose seats at the time. In the past few days I was considering upgrading from standard to more roomy seats. I could not find that facility on the website so I contacted one of your customer team using the telephone number on your website for website queries, then chose option *..*I very clearly said that my query was to do with seating. The man I spoke with misunderstood me, not once but twice, asking about bags and then saying he could assign seats. When I finally got him to understand that I already had seats assigned but was interested in upgrading, he assured me that I would be able to do that when I checked in online. I asked him to confirm this and again he told me that was the case. I then asked him to check on the seat availability for that flight so I would know whether there were several available or none. At this point he apologised and said that actually as the flight was departing in the next ** hours, no seat change was possible. I am not happy with both the lack of information on the website and the fact that I had to persist to get any information out of your customer service. I have now wasted quite a bit of time trying to sort out something that for most airlines would be quite straightforward, but apparently not the case for Aer Lingus.*I would appreciate an explanation. I am still not convinced that what I have been told is accurate given that the individual I spoke with jumped to the wrong conclusion about my call several times.
