Myself and my * friends had a terrible experience at Aer Lingus on our way home from Dublin. *We arrived * and a half hours early for our flight. Upon checking in the woman told us the gate was closing and we better run. Panicked we ran to security and began the process. While at security an aer lingus employee treated us TERRIBLY and threw out our expensive toiletries for no reason whatsoever. They were the proper size and NOT over the limit. She spoke to us disrespectfully and treated our property like trash. She gave us plastic bags to put our toiletries in then proceeded to tell us that we have to choose what we want to keep because she’s throwing the rest away. She took my friends toiletries bag and DUMPED out her toiletries into a bucket and said “pick what you want” my friend proceeded to pick the most expensive and valuable items and the aer lingus employee threw the rest in the trash. Then she spoke down to us and was condescending saying “don’t get mad” over and over again and saying “they are just liquids” when in fact they are not JUST anything. They are our personal property that this individual had no right to abuse and throw away. Then she Took a tube of my friends lipstick and handed it back to her and said “you can keep this one” as if she were doing her a favor. If we were breaking some rules by having too many toiletries why did the aer lingus hand her back the lipstick at the last second? I’d like to point out that we brought home the same exact amount of toiletries as we brought onto the aer lingus flight. We all remained respectful throughout this horrible experience despite the fact that we were rushing to make our flight. Once it came time to look at my toiletries the woman threw away my face wash and said it was too big even tho it was *oz. Then the aer lingus employee took my other friends backpack and put it on the counter and said “who’s the next culprit?” We are paying customers not culprits or criminals and to be treated this way is unacceptable. She proceeded to open the backpack pull out my friends under garments and with no respect had her bra out on the table. Then she pulled out her dental retainer and dropped it on the table. My friend spoke up and said “that retainer is $*** and I can’t afford for you to break it” the employee did not apologize for handling an expensive piece of our property with disrespect and disregard. We are incredibly upset by these events and would like to point out that no one else around us was being treated this way. I would hate for it to be because the employee was discriminating against us because we were the only African American individuals in the room and we were the only people being treated this way. Included is a photo of the items we can remember that were thrown away totaling over $*** USD we would like to be given that money back in addition to any compensation for being treated horribly and the possible prejudice we had to face and endure. *The * passengers affected are **.
