What is the difference between omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9?

Asked 6 months ago
Omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 are all essential fatty acids, but they have distinct differences. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish, flaxseeds, and chia seeds, offer numerous health benefits such as reducing inflammation, supporting heart health, and promoting brain function. Omega-6 fatty acids, which can be obtained from vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds, are also essential but should be consumed in moderation as they may promote inflammation when consumed in excess. Omega-9 fatty acids, predominantly found in olive oil and avocados, are non-essential, meaning our bodies can produce them. However, consuming omega-9s can still be beneficial by helping to support heart health and reducing inflammation. Maintaining a proper balance of these fatty acids is key for overall health and wellbeing.
