World of Warcraft (WoW) is without a doubt the most popular multi-player online role playing game of all time. The game is played by gamers all over the world and the game continues to draw in more players with every passing year. The game was released by Blizzard entertainment and the company's site is a crucial part of recovering a World of Warcraft account.
There are two major reasons why most people want to recover their World of Warcraft account. The first reason is because they shut down their account and after some time away from the game are looking to get back into it. The second reason is that their World of Warcraft account has been hacked and they can no longer access their account.
We will review recovering your account in both scenarios:
Recovering your account after a period of inactivity
Most long-time WoW players have left the game at least once and have returned to enjoy the role playing game's thrill once more. For players who left the game and are seeking to reactivate their accounts, they can recover their accounts through the following process:
Log in to account management through Blizzard's Battle.net portal. You can try logging in through the WoW main site but you will be redirected to the Battle.net login page.
Input the email address and password associated with your old account. If you have not merged your WoW account to a Battle.net account then you will be required to create a new Battle.net account.
Once you have created the account, log in and select "Merge a World of Warcraft account" from the drop down menu at "Account Management." Follow the instructions and you will soon be ready to go.
Once the merger is complete, you will be directed to the Battle.net "Account" screen.
Once on the screen, click the WoW account icon on the right side of the screen where you will be redirected to the World of Warcraft Game Management Screen.
On the screen, click the "Set Up Game Subscription" link in located near the middle of the page. Select you preferred method of payment and click "Continue" when done
Select your subscription plan and input your payment information. Click "Continue" when finished
You will be redirected to the confirmation page. After confirmation, you account will be reactivated and you can begin enjoying the wonders of WoW again.
Recovering a hacked account
A hacked account is the worst case scenario for most WoW players. You have your log in details but they are not working. Another scenario is where you are able to log in to your account but it is clear your account has been compromised. Relax and keep calm. Blizzard can help you get your account back through the following process:
Update your security software. Install the necessary updates to your operating system, antivirus and browser to ensure your computer is as secure as can be.
Change your email address password. An account hacker will have your log in details. Changing them will be the first step to locking out the culprit. If whoever is using your account has not changed the password or added an authenticator, you should change the password of your WoW account and lock the culprit out.
If you are sure of your computer's security but are locked out of your account, you should contact Blizzard Entertainment. You can either contact them directly or use the account recovery form. You can retrieve their contact information from GetHuman. You will have to provide proof that you are the account's legitimate owner.
You should receive a password reset email fairly soon. However, it will take some time for Blizzard to conclude their investigation. They will get back to you and notify you that the account is back in your possession. Add an extra authenticator for good measure once you log in to your account.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for World of Warcraft Problems?
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like World of Warcraft in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Recover My World of Warcraft Account? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
