How Do I Factory Reset My Rca Tablet?

RCA tablets are popular and portable, meaning that they're exposed to a lot of malware, viruses, and accidents. If your RCA tablet got infected with a new virus or if you screwed up your system settings because you lost power while the tablet was updating, then you might need to do a factory reset, and return everything to its original settings. There are a couple of different ways you can do this, depending on what kind of tablet you have and what the problem is.

Before doing anything else, back up any photos, videos, and other files that you want to save onto the cloud or a storage device. After you finish the reset, you won't be able to recover them.

Android OS, Tablet Booting Up

If your tablet is still running but you need to do a factory reset, RCA Android tablets have a reset feature installed that you can easily use.

1. Go to the Home screen.
2. Run the Settings app.
3. Scroll until you find the Backup & Reset option and tap it. You will then be warned that performing a factory reset will mean that you can no longer recover any data you have saved on the tablet.
4. Tap Factory Data Reset. The factory reset process will begin immediately.
5. After the reset process has been completed, restart the tablet and set it up just like it was a new device.

Android OS, Tablet Not Responding

If something has gone seriously wrong and you can't even get your operating system going, then you aren't going to be able to access the Settings app, so the above method won't work for you. In that case, you are going to have to do a reset in recovery mode.

1. Turn off your tablet by pressing the Power button.
2. Wait for the screen to go completely black.
3. Press the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously and hold them down.
4. Wait until the Recovery Mode screen appears.
5. Release the Power and Volume Up buttons.
6. Find the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option on the list provided, using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll.
7. Once the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option is highlighted, press the Power button to select it.
8. After the Confirmation screen appears, find and select the Yes – Delete All User Data option using the Volume and Power buttons.
9. Tap Reboot System Now. Your tablet will then power down and restart with the factory settings.

Windows 10 OS

If your tablet is still running but you need to do a factory reset, you'll find that the reset procedure on an RCA Windows tablet is a little more complicated.

1. Turn your tablet off.
2. Press the Fn button and hold it down.
3. Turn your tablet back on again, keeping the Fn button held down.
4. Start pressing the F9 button repeatedly until the screen displays the message "Please wait."
5. Stop pressing the F9 button and release the Fn button.
6. Once the Boot screen appears, select the Troubleshoot option.
7. Select the Reset option.
8. Select the Fully Clean the Device option. This will begin the factory reset process.
