What are the requirements for becoming a notary public in Oregon?

Asked a year ago
To become a notary public in Oregon, you must fulfill several requirements. First, you must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the state. Next, you must complete a notary education course offered by the Secretary of State or an approved provider. After completing the course, you must pass a written examination. Additionally, you must obtain a surety bond in the amount of $15,000 and file it with the Secretary of State. You must also provide a $40 filing fee and a completed application before being appointed. Once appointed, you must obtain a notary stamp and journal to record all notarial acts. To maintain your notary commission, you must also complete a continuing education course every four years.
