How Do I Get a Refund from MakeMyTrip?

MakeMyTrip is an Indian online travel company. Founded in 2000, the company provides travel services such as flight bookings, domestic and international holiday packages, hotel bookings, and rail and bus tickets.

If you had to cancel your trip, you can go through the refund process with MakeMyTrip. For plane tickets, you are able to cancel your trip online if it's more than three hours before the planned departure.

Cancel Plane Tickets Online

  1. Go to www.makemytrip.com

  2. In the top right corner, select 'Log In.'

  3. You can sign in to your account with your email address or phone number, and password. Alternatively, you can sign in with your Google or Facebook account.

  4. Once you have signed in, select the 'Customer Support' link.

  5. Under the Flights section, select 'Cancel Bookings.'

  6. You will be asked to enter the MakeMyTrip Booking ID for the flight you want to cancel as well as the contact number that you gave at the time of the booking.

  7. You can choose between canceling your entire booking, specific passengers, or portions of the trip.

  8. Review the cancelation penalty and the refund amount before continuing.

  9. The refund will be the same as what you paid for the original booking. You will be refunded onto the same form of payment that you used to originally pay for the flight.

  10. You will receive an email confirming your flight is canceled.

  11. Refunds take three business days to process for online requests. Over the phone cancellations take five business days so online is a faster option. After processing and approval, it can take between 3-14 business days for the money to be reflected in your account.

Note that you can't cancel your flight within three hours of the departure time. If you wish to cancel your flight within three hours, you will need to cancel directly with the airline. After which, you will need to phone the MakeMyTrip Customer Service Team to process the refund. Cancelation charges may apply for canceling so close to the flight's departure time. Or, you may not be eligible for a refund.

Canceled the Tickets with the Airline

If you cancel your tickets directly with the airline, you'll need to follow these steps to collect a refund from MakeMyTrip.

  1. Go to https://supportz.makemytrip.com/Mima/BookingSummary/

  2. You will be asked to sign in to your account. You can sign in to your account with your email address or phone number, and password. Alternatively, you can sign in with your Google or Facebook account.

  3. Under 'Special Claims,' submit a ticket explaining you already canceled your ticket directly with the airline and now you want to receive a refund.

  4. Once receiving the claim, MakeMyTrip will process a refund to your account. Note that there may be cancelation charges applied.

Missed Flight or Flight Was Canceled By Airline

  1. If you missed your flight and never used your ticket, or if your flight was canceled by the airline, follow the same steps as outlined above in the "Canceled the Tickets with the Airline" section. Under 'Special Claims' make sure to specify your specific situation. Note that there may be cancelation charges applied.

  1. If you are having issues canceling your trip online or getting a refund online, you can contact the MakeMyTrip Customer Service Team via phone. Note that the customer team is available by phone Monday to Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. The average wait time is three minutes.

  2. Refunds take five business days for over the phone requests. After processing and approval, it can take between 3-14 business days for the money to be reflected in your account, depending on your bank.
