What should I do if there is a power outage?

Asked a year ago
If you experience a power outage, it is important to first check if the outage is limited to your home or if it affects a larger area. If it is just your home, check your circuit breaker or fuse box to make sure the problem is not internal. If the outage is more widespread, report it to your utility company as soon as possible. Stay safe during the outage by using flashlights instead of candles, and avoid opening the refrigerator or freezer to keep food cold longer. Listen to a battery-powered radio for updates, and unplug electronic devices to protect them from power surges when the power is restored.
