What kind of gear should I bring for a long distance bike ride?

Asked a year ago
For a long distance bike ride, it is important to have essential gear that ensures comfort, safety, and preparedness. Firstly, a reliable and well-maintained bicycle is a must. Other essential gear includes a helmet to prioritize safety, comfortable and padded cycling shorts for long hours in the saddle, padded gloves for extra grip and comfort, and appropriate footwear like cycling shoes or sturdy sneakers. Carrying a lightweight backpack or saddlebags is essential for storing essentials such as water bottles, energy snacks, a basic repair kit, spare tubes, tire levers, and a multi-tool. Additionally, clothing appropriate for changing weather conditions, such as breathable layers and a lightweight rain jacket, should be packed. Lastly, don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cell phone for emergencies.
