Low-cost is important to many people but no amount of penny-saving can prevent someone from missing a connecting flight. This guide will help you get where you need to go in case you miss your flight and will provide you with some tips to reduce the chance of missing a flight.

What Frontier Will Do For Missed Flights

If the missed flight is due to mechanical issues or the weather, Frontier will notify you of any flight changes by email if you booked through them and they have your email, but if you used a travel agent, then Frontier will notify the travel agent of the changes. It is up to the travel agent to notify you.

For Controllable Situations

Frontier determines controllable situations as those that they could have prevented with better maintenance like aircraft damage or mechanical failures. In this instance, Frontier will also do their best to put you on the next available flight at no additional charge. In case of cancelled flights, Frontier will refund to you, at your request, a full refund of the unused portion of your ticket.

For Uncontrollable Situations

Frontier determines uncontrollable as delays caused by events no one can control, like the weather, aircraft damage caused by bird strikes or issues within Air Traffic Control. They do provide re-accommodation on a new Frontier flight but they don't provide any more compensation outside of that. Possible Preventative Measures

  1. Enroll in both flight change alerts and weather alerts, this will keep you informed in case you need to act quickly.
  2. Make sure when you book, to leave enough time for arriving at the airport. This includes traffic so it's recommended to review the traffic conditions along your route to the airport.
  3. There are some events that are within your control. Becoming distracted on a smart device is one example. Once you're already at the airport, simply set an alarm on your smart phone to sound 30-45 minutes ahead of your scheduled departure time as a reminder and to bring you out of your distraction.
  4. Make sure you have a safety net, in the form of travelers' insurance.
  5. Check in online to avoid many of the long lines associated with checking in at the airport. Keep in mind that if you check in online, the airline considers you boarded on the plane and they won't account for you running late.
  6. If you are running late, call the airline. They won't delay the flight unless it's an absolute emergency but they can advise you of what to do next. Also find an airport representative if you do arrive late. They may be able to direct you to the front of the line in security checks so you can save time.
  7. Packing light is also recommended so that you can avoid checking in your bag.
