How Do I Use Webex?

Webex was founded in 1995 and became part of Cisco Systems in 2007. They make a variety of video conferencing tools including Webex Teams, Webex Sales Center, Webex Connect, and Webex Enterprise Edition.

Getting Webex

You do not need to install client applications to use Webex. You can use special applications for Android and iOS devices. To start, open the Webex website. On the site, you can sign up and host a meeting or join an existing meeting. Both options are free of charge. Click on the option ‘Plans & Pricing' to view the cost of Webex for business. You can find the details of different options and their costs. Consider using the free version if your meeting has 100 or less participants and does not exceed 40 minutes.

Enrolling

If you will be hosting a meeting, enter your email address, name, and location. You will receive an email as confirmation that the account is yours. In the email, you will find a link which you can use to set your password. After successful enrolment, you may personalize your Personal Room.

Customize your Personal Room into how you would like others to view you. It is where you start and schedule meetings. To customize, click on the circle with your initials. Click ‘Change' and upload an appropriate picture

Desktop vs. Web

If your plan is to host only one meeting, consider using the web version. The desktop application is appropriate for those who hold digital conferences regularly.

Room Management

As the host, you can control the meeting room to suit your needs. You dictate who can speak and when they speak. The participants list and icon bar help you to control a lot more. The participants lists allows you to see the people who have arrived, control their audio, and message them individually.

With the icons at the bottom, you can control video and audio. The icons can help you record your meeting, share it, access settings, and leave the meeting.

Inviting People

The settings menu gives you an option to invite other participants while your meeting is ongoing. The option presents a panel in which you can enter the email address of whoever you wish to invite. They will receive an email with a link that directs them to your room.

Ending a Meeting

Click on the red circle with and X and then ‘End Meeting.' When you end a meeting, all the connected participants will be disconnected. You may hand the hosting role to someone else if you want the meeting to continue without you. If you select ‘Leave meeting,' no one else will be disconnected.

Contacting the Support Team

If you need help using Webex, there are many ways to contact the support team. The best way to contact Webex is on the phone. You will be connected with a Support agent who can give you an answer for any questions. The live chat option is a great option as well. It is the best alternative to phone support.

If you don't necessarily need to speak with an agent, some of the best options are email, Facebook, and Twitter.

Consider seeking support on the help desk before exploring other options. It has plenty of helpful tips and reminders that may answer your questions.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Cisco Webex Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Cisco Webex in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Use Webex? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
