How Do I Report a News Tip to CNN?

CNN is a popular American-based news network that provides 24-hour news coverage. Globally, CNN can air through CNN International, which can be viewed by 212 countries and territories. If you have a news tip you believe would be useful to CNN, you can report a tip that will be investigated by a CNN representative. In this guide, you will learn how to give a news tip to CNN and possibly have your comment used to make an upcoming news segment by CNN.

Reporting a News Tip to CNN

Before you submit a news tip, make sure your news tip is newsworthy, and the news has not been published yet on CNN. CNN will not consider news tips that do not have news value, dismissing the news tip.

Submitting an Online Feedback Form

  1. Visit the CNN website and the online feedback form
  2. Enter your name and email address you would like a CNN representative to reach you
  3. Fill out the initial thoughts box with a potential news tip for CNN with as much detail as possible to make a good case. You have a maximum of 650 characters to use.
  4. Fill out any additional comments you may have about the news tip in the box labeled 'Additional Comments.'

Your feedback and news tips will be looked over by CNN and will respond to your news tip, and thank you for providing potentially valuable information. CNN prefers that you use the online feedback form over email. Emailing CNN is not the best way to reach someone who can respond to a news tip.

Submitting an Idea Submission

If your idea is broader than a news tip and you have an idea for an entire news program that may be useful to CNN, you may submit an idea submission form. CNN is always looking for ideas to expand its programming, and CNN may use your idea.

  1. Visit the CNN idea submission webpage
  2. Fill out the title of your idea and what CNN broadcast platform would find this idea most appealing.
  3. Fill out the idea that you have and any resources that can help CNN with analyzing your concept.
  4. You will need to fill out your personal information such as name, address, and email address to be contacted by CNN.
  5. Once you have filled out the information, look over the Release Agreement at the bottom of the page and confirm you have thoroughly read the agreement.
