How do I restart or reset my Breezeline modem or gateway?
If Breezeline modem or gateway service is acting up, a restart is usually the safest first step because it refreshes the connection without changing settings. To restart, unplug the power cord from the modem or gateway, wait at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in and give it several minutes to fully boot. During that time, the lights may blink while the device reconnects.
If a simple restart does not help, a reset is more serious and should be used carefully. A reset, often called a factory reset, restores the device to its original settings and can erase custom Wi Fi names, passwords, and other changes. On many devices, this is done by pressing and holding the small reset button with a pin or paperclip for about 10 to 15 seconds, then releasing it and waiting for the unit to reboot. If there is a label on the device, the current web page for Breezeline may also show model specific instructions or contact information for support options.
If the goal is just to fix a temporary outage, restart first. If the gateway has been configured with custom settings, avoid resetting unless you are prepared to set it up again afterward.
