Tap Request a Refund

Click Start a refund request and follow the on-screen instructions. You'll need to sign in to your Apple account to proceed.

Sign In to Apple

Log in with either your email address or phone number. It should be the account associated with your refund request.

Check Your Phone for Two Factor Authentication

Apple will send a two-factor authentication code to verify your account. Check your iPhone for the code, enter the digits, and continue.

If it's a recent purchase, you may need to have the invoice ready. Apple invoices are usually sent to your email address 2-3 days after your purchase. It's best to wait for the invoice before filing a refund request to Apple.

After signing in, you will be taken to the Report a Problem page, which allows you to get started with the refund process.

Select Request a Refund

You'll find this in the What Can We Help You With dropdown menu. Note that you may lose instant access to some of your subscriptions when you request a refund.

Choose the Reason for Your Refund

You will be provided with a few refund request reasons. Choose the one that best fits your answer or tap Other.

Click Next

The next step is to select the item from your purchase history. Once the refund request is submitted, wait 24-48 hours for feedback regarding your refund request. When approved, the funds will appear in your account within a few days, depending on your bank.

You can also check the status of your refund by signing in to your account and checking the Claims status. If it's approved, Apple will use the same payment method used for purchasing the item or subscription. Store credits usually take up to 48 hours, and other payment methods, including credit or debit, Apple Cash, and Apple Pay can take up to 30 days. If you still don't have the refund after 30 days, consider contacting your financial institution.

If you can no longer find the item to want to refund, tap Need More Help and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be able to either call Apple or chat with a representative in real time. Choose Chat to ensure a live person helps you with your refund.

Chat With an Agent

If you need additional assistance with your refund request, chat with Support to help resolve your issues promptly. Chatting with Support is quick, and you get answers in real time. However, do make sure you already have the invoice for the item you want to refund. Otherwise, they will ask you to contact them again with your invoice ready.

Conclusion

Note that you cannot request a refund from Apple if you still have unpaid bills with them. Pay them off first before requesting a refund. Do you still have issues when filing a refund request with Apple? Don't hesitate to get in touch with Support.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Apple Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
