I reached out previously about suggesting the installation of ultraviolet lamps in the plane's air circulation system as an alternative to mandating masks. Ultraviolet exposure can eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, whereas masks are typically only about 20% effective, with even N95 masks reaching 95% efficiency if new and worn correctly. An increasing number of experts are asserting that masks are not just ineffective but actually harmful. They argue that a bacterial-viral film can develop inside masks within minutes.

I had a flight booked from Dublin, Ireland (DUB) to Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ) on June 29, [redacted], and returning on July 13 on WestJet flight WS50. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my flights were cancelled, and I was informed that the value of the flights would be credited to a WestJet travel bank. I tried to request a refund previously but did not receive a response. After sending another email in August, I received an unrelated reply about compensation. I am now formally requesting a full refund of the original payment under EU Passenger Rights Regulation (EC) [redacted]/[redacted] as the flight originated in the EU. I have also notified the EU Commission for Aviation Regulation about WestJet's failure to comply with this regulation. I hope to receive a prompt response regarding the refund.

I am reaching out to customer service after waiting for 3 1/2 months for a refund from Westjet for a cancelled flight from Hawaii to Vancouver on July 6th, [redacted]. The flight number was [redacted] from OGG to YVR for my wife and me, John and Heather P. I have not received any response regarding the $[redacted].22 refund request on my credit card. Before pursuing a chargeback with my credit card company, I hope your Customer Support team can process my refund directly. If Westjet declines my refund and offers only a voucher, I will proceed with the chargeback and reconsider future bookings with your airline. Sincerely, Johnathan P.

Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Jerry Cvach, residing at [redacted] Queensland Circle SE, Calgary, Alberta, postal code T2J 4P7. I made a reservation on November 23, [redacted] for a return trip from Calgary to Atlanta on March 21, [redacted], returning on March 28, [redacted], and on December 27, [redacted], for a return trip to Paris from Calgary for April 17, [redacted], returning on May 15, [redacted], with total payments of $1,[redacted].41 and $[redacted].11, respectively. Both flights were canceled by West Jet, and $2,[redacted].52 remains on hold for future use by the end of [redacted]. I understand that canceling my trips on March 12, [redacted], may have affected the outcome, and while I appreciate West Jet's policy regarding cancellations, given the current situation with COVID-19, I kindly request a refund considering my age and financial circumstances. I trust that West Jet, known for its customer service, can show compassion and assist senior customers like me. Sincerely, Jerry Cvach

I sent a message requesting a response within 20 minutes, but it has been over an hour and I have not heard back. My name is Jerry Cvach, and I reside at [redacted] Queensland Circle SE, Calgary, Alberta, with the postal code T2J 4P7. I made reservations for flights from Calgary to Atlanta and Paris for March and April [redacted], respectively. Due to cancellations by West Jet, I now have credit totaling $2,[redacted].52 to be used by the end of [redacted]. I am aware that I canceled the trips myself, but circumstances changed, leading to the flight cancellations by the airline. As a retired individual living on a fixed income, I am requesting compassion and help in refunding the money, as it is a significant amount for me. I hope to hear from you soon. Best regards, Jerry Cvach

I purchased a flight from WestJet in [redacted] under the impression that there would be no cancellation fees for bookings made before Dec 31. Unfortunately, after canceling due to a Covid-related reason, I discovered that instead of a refund to my bank account, WestJet issued a "Travel Bank" credit. Despite their initial guarantee of no penalties for cancellations, they are now withholding my money for a service I never received. I am prepared to pursue legal action to reclaim my funds, although I hope it doesn't come to that. The way WestJet handled this situation is deceitful and disappointing, especially from a well-known company. If they do not refund my money promptly, I will be choosing to fly with Air Canada in the future.

On November 5, [redacted], I have been a faithful supporter of Westjet, always appreciating the fair prices and excellent service. Unfortunately, my recent experience has tarnished my perception. I had booked a connecting flight to Manzanillo via Calgary for December 31 – January 8. Following a sudden flight change email received on November 2, I was informed that my Calgary to Manzanillo flight had been cancelled. Despite my disappointment, I accepted the credit policy unwillingly. My main grievance lies in the later discovery that flights to Manzanillo were still available through Vancouver and Mexico City, unbeknownst to me or my friends who had already cancelled their bookings. This lack of transparency feels dishonest and has shaken my trust in Westjet. I urge Westjet to consider the impact of their actions on customer loyalty and prioritize clear communication in the future. Sincerely, Genelle

Due to health issues and the pandemic, we sadly had to cancel our trip to Mexico scheduled for February-March [redacted], which we booked using Westjet points. Usually, the points are valid for one year, but we kindly reached out to Westjet to request an extension of another year to utilize the points. We are now inquiring about the status of extending the point validity. John F. S. - [redacted]06 Imelda B. S. - [redacted]72 Kindly provide an update once this process is finalized.

I experienced a portion of my West Jet flight being cancelled, and they directed me to call a specific number. However, I have been unable to reach them through that number as I keep getting placed on hold. After waiting for about 30 minutes, the call gets disconnected. This has happened three times, and I am stuck in this frustrating loop. Trying to cancel the flight myself in my account proves futile because only part of the flight was cancelled by West Jet. My accommodation plans tied to this flight are now at risk, and I can't find a way to resolve this issue with West Jet. I am incredibly disappointed with their poor service, especially as a silver member.

My name is Margaret H. I made a reservation through MyFlightSearch for a WS flight on October 28, [redacted], traveling from Vancouver to Saskatoon on December 17. The payment was charged to my brother's credit card. Surprisingly, the ticket displays my brother's name, Arle, which is causing issues as they are not permitting a name change. I just discovered this when I tried to check in an hour ago, and the e-ticket only arrived a few minutes back. I need assistance urgently!

Hello, I am seeking assistance regarding my WestJet flights that were canceled. I have submitted forms to have the funds reimbursed to my Mastercard. It has been two months since then, and I have not received the refund. Could you please provide an update on the status of my refunds for the following flights: GKOMEM on 9th January from Montreal to Varadero, GSOMYK on 12th December from Santa Clara to Montreal, FFYDNU on 5th November from Varadero to Montreal, JLFGAA on 8th October from Varadero to Montreal, RYGWGF on 8th September from Varadero to Montreal, and HLIIKL on 6th August from Varadero to Montreal. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Regards, A. Belousov, WestJet [redacted]86.

I made a flight reservation for a trip from Calgary to Ontario on December 26th, [redacted], but I had to cancel it. I am not a frequent flyer and was unaware that in case of cancellation, I wouldn't receive a refund of $[redacted].06, but instead, the funds would go into a travel bank for future use. I initially thought of it as a positive as it could be used for a family vacation someday. However, due to losing my job during the lockdown and being a single parent to three children relying only on work and child tax, I am struggling to make ends meet. I am reaching out in the hope that I could get the travel bank funds back on my credit card as it is now crucial for my family's survival. I am in desperate need of financial assistance during these difficult times brought on by Covid-19. Your understanding and support would mean everything to us. Thank you. - J. F.

My flight from Toronto to London Gatwick on March 22, [redacted] was cancelled due to Covid-19. I also received credit at the Westjet Bank. I completed the form to request a refund via the original payment method. Recently, I received an email stating I do not qualify for a refund, which is incorrect as Westjet canceled the booking and promptly issued a refund to their bank. Despite submitting a new request, I received the same incorrect response. It appears challenging to contact Westjet unless I use Facebook. Even so, I anticipate the response will be incorrect. Can anyone provide guidance or assistance with this issue?

I submitted my Refund Request Form for a Covid-related cancellation on December 1, [redacted], but I have not received any response yet. I am worried about the delay as my Travel Credits only have one year left and due to Covid, I have not been able to travel. Could my Travel Credits be extended while I wait for WestJet to process my refund? My original booking was a direct flight from Calgary to Rome with the reservation code FYDKWK. I canceled on the day Canada issued a Travel Advisory against travel to Italy. Since WestJet canceled the flight and never re-instated it, I haven't been able to use my travel credits. I request to extend my travel credits by another year due to the prolonged processing time for my refund.

Last year, I made reservations for 5 flights through your airline to attend my son's wedding in British Columbia. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the plans due to Covid-19, and the funds of £[redacted].16 were held in a dollars account under the ID [redacted]44 with your airline for possible future rebooking. My son has informed me that due to ongoing travel and event restrictions by the Canadian Government, the wedding cannot proceed this year either. I completed an online refund form recently but have yet to receive any response from your company. It seems unlikely that we will be able to reschedule the trip for next year either. I have attempted to reach out via phone but was unable to get through after waiting for an extended period of time. I would appreciate guidance on the next steps I need to take in order to process a refund promptly.

Concerns regarding Westjet Cargo department's handling of a pet shipment from Toronto to Vancouver have arisen due to miscommunication on flight arrangements for a puppy. After multiple phone calls with inconsistent information, the decision was made to reroute the puppy to Calgary and personally collect the pet for the journey to Victoria. Despite sending a health certificate in advance, the puppy was not allowed on the plane, causing subsequent flight complications. Urgent assistance is needed as there is a tight schedule between the puppy's arrival in Calgary and the owner's connecting flight to Victoria. Immediate intervention is requested to ensure a smooth transfer of the puppy to its owner at the airport for a safe journey home under the owner's care.

WestJet changed my premium flight to Economy for the first leg of the journey, causing us a 24-hour delay for our connection to Orlando. The downgrade was not communicated, and after waiting on hold for nearly two hours from the UK, I received an email offering the option to accept the changes or receive a refund in WestJet rewards. Following a previous flight cancellation with another airline last year, we had to settle for a partial refund and a credit. Unable to lose more money and facing significantly higher prices for premium flights, I am now in a challenging situation.

Today is Sunday, March 21, [redacted]. My wife and I are currently in Florence, AZ and are trying to return to Canada. We had a WestJet flight scheduled, Flight #[redacted] to Calgary, departing at 12:50 PM today. Our WestJet Code is DTSUOA. Unfortunately, we were denied boarding as the Covid testing lab did not send our test results in time, despite their promise before the flight. We have our ArriveCan Receipt 4DU85K and a reservation at the Hilton Hampton Inn. Due to this issue, we had to rent a car to get back to Florence. I plan to contact the Hilton Hampton Inn in Calgary to explain our situation and will visit the testing facility tomorrow to retrieve a copy of the results. I wonder if we will need to make and pay for new flight arrangements to Calgary. Thank you for your assistance. My son and his girlfriend had a flight booked with Westjet from Toronto to Victoria on July 7, which was changed by the airline to include a stopover in Vancouver instead of being direct. They are traveling with a pet and need to switch to another direct flight. Unfortunately, the Westjet website does not allow us to cancel or change the flights on our own. I have spent a total of almost 7 hours on the phone with various customer service numbers and have been waiting in the FB messenger queue for almost 24 hours. This situation is getting urgent as my son's travel plans are tied to moving activities and coordinating dates with movers.

Our return flights on July 5, [redacted] from YYJ to YXC (WS186 and WS3047) were canceled by WestJet. The replacement flights offered by the airline are inconvenient as they arrive at YXC (Cranbrook) around midnight, posing challenges for us as elderly passengers living two hours away from the airport. We are concerned about finding accommodation or dealing with possible car issues at that late hour due to airport abandonment after the last flight. Therefore, we would like to rebook our return flights for two passengers on July 05 (or 06) to the following: YYJ - YXC flights WS3114, WS108, and WS3023. We have been waiting on the phone for nearly three hours without success in reaching a WestJet agent for assistance with these changes. Could you please help us? Please note that we do not have the capability to receive text messages on our landline ([redacted]) and would prefer any necessary codes to be sent via email. Thank you.
