On November 26, [redacted], our flight from Istanbul to Basel faced overbooking. At the gate, passengers were asked to give up seats for older travelers. In exchange, we were promised €[redacted] compensation each and accommodations at Retaj Royale Hotel. However, the experience at the hotel has been disappointing. The dinner provided was subpar, resembling frozen food, and caused stomach issues. The cleanliness of the rooms was also lacking, with hair in the bed and flies in the shower. I suggest Turkish Airlines review the quality of the hotels they send passengers to, as the current standards are not acceptable. It would be better for passengers to stay in the airport lounge instead.

My partner, Simon P., and I, Dana S., were scheduled to travel from Cape Town to Vienna, Austria on November 26, [redacted]. Unfortunately, Turkish Airlines canceled our connecting flight TK1889 from Istanbul to Vienna. As a result, we had to stay overnight in Istanbul, incurring expenses of EUR 99, including a EUR 34 hotel charge, a EUR 25 visa fee for Turkey, and a EUR 40 taxi fare.

I departed from Istanbul to Beirut on November 25 with two suitcases. When I put them on the belt, the first one went through but the second one was deemed overweight. An employee directed me to another window to pay the fee, but when I returned, the employee and my bag were gone. The supervisor reassured me in Istanbul that my bag was on the flight, but upon arrival in Beirut, I only had one suitcase. I was surprised to find out that my flight on December 10, [redacted], at 6:30 am was canceled without any notification. After contacting customer service, the new flight was rescheduled to December 10 at 6:20 pm, arriving in Lagos on the evening of December 11. This change has caused inconvenience as I now need to find a place to stay in Istanbul unexpectedly. Additionally, I will miss my local flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt on December 11 due to this alteration made by Turkish Airways. I will upload the local flight ticket to support my case.
