The following are issues that customers reported to GetHuman about Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) customer service, archive #2. It includes a selection of 11 issue(s) reported December 3, 2021 onward. If you have a similar customer service issue, this page will help you find current, up-to-date answers and solutions too.
I attempted to pay my JCP&L bill online but discovered that passwords were canceled due to alleged illicit activity on some accounts. Despite multiple attempts to create a new password, including using a computer-generated one, I continuously received an "Invalid Password" message. After reaching the maximum login attempts, my account was locked, prompting me to call Customer Service. The automated system made it challenging to speak with a representative. Upon finally receiving a call-back, the line disconnected while explaining the issue. Despite no attempt to reconnect, I called back only to face the automated system again. Frustrated, I hung up. Improvements are necessary for customers facing problems beyond a few words, with a more efficient system to reach live representatives and a protocol for call-backs if disconnected. I now cannot pay my bill online and am disappointed in the service experience.

I have been consistently receiving fluctuating overvoltage readings of [redacted]-129V on my home voltmeter. I have even seen voltages exceeding 130V. Technicians have visited my residence, and the issue seems to be related to generation or capacitor banks. I am concerned about the impact on appliances and electronics. I am a holder of a NJ Electrical HHS License. I have reported this issue to JCPL Engineering earlier, including an under voltage problem in August where I measured voltages as low as [redacted].4V. These issues seem to be affecting the whole community.
Thank you,

There are flickering lights throughout my property and apartment, affecting the outlets' output. Some outlets are hot enough to cause burns, and others have damaged wood around them. The circuit breaker is broken with a crack, affecting the gas on/off switch and heat. I suspect my meter is drawing energy from an external source. Despite a technician suggesting an internal issue, the landlord has not addressed it. I am concerned about the delays in resolving the internal electrical problem. Additionally, I've noticed discrepancies between my billing addresses from JCP&L and NJ Natural Gas. I am unable to contact the utility companies due to a lack of necessary information provided by my landlord.

Firstly, I'd like to address that your survey is not functioning properly, which is quite frustrating. I attempted to submit it multiple times without success.
Regarding customer service, I must emphasize my dissatisfaction with the lack of human interaction and assistance provided by your company. It is disheartening not to be able to speak with a representative for help, especially in urgent situations like when I received a Shut-Off Notice. The automated system's repeating messages, followed by an abrupt hang-up, were extremely unprofessional and distressing.
I feel trapped with no alternative provider, as I would swiftly switch companies if possible. Fortunately, during my recent contact, I connected with an exceptional individual named Lexia, who patiently addressed my inquiries and updated me on my billing. She truly deserves recognition for her outstanding service.
In conclusion, there is a pressing need for improvement in your customer service protocols.

I live at [redacted] Rolling Knolls Way in Bridgewater, NJ [redacted], and the streetlight in front of my home keeps flickering on and off during the night. I believe the problem might be a faulty bulb, as this has occurred in the past. The street light is positioned near the end of my driveway, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could replace the bulb. Additionally, there is another faulty streetlight approximately two lights down on the same side of the street, around [redacted] Rolling Knolls Way. Thank you for your assistance.

There are twelve splices on a [redacted]-foot stretch of the power line along Cole Rd in Readington Township. I am concerned about the potential hazards this poses to our community. Despite my efforts to address the issue with requests for tree removal, the problem persists. I have taken the initiative to document the situation through video recording for my records. It is crucial for the utility company to take action to prevent any future incidents or accidents. I urge them to review their records and prioritize the maintenance needed to ensure the safety of our neighborhood.

I reside at 1 Brevent Avenue, Leonardo, NJ, located at the end of the power line. There is a tree at the intersection of Burlington Avenue & Brevent Avenue with branches entangled with the power lines that supply my house. In the event of a storm, these lines are at risk, and being the sole service recipient, I understand I may not be a priority for repair. Kindly send a crew to trim these branches. I believe the tree is on Middletown Township property, which might be relevant.
Thank you for your help.

I lost power at 11 PM on June 19, [redacted], and it is now 1:27 PM the next day. It has been nearly 16 hours without electricity, causing me to lose the groceries I bought for the week. I am seeking accountability for the delayed restoration of power. Who should be held responsible for this issue and compensate not only me but also my neighbors who lost their groceries due to this outage?

I have noticed a Jersey Central Power and Light Company truck on my property following a heavy rainstorm. The truck's presence is a concern due to the weight potentially damaging the grass, especially near the sprinkler system, putting the sprinkler heads at risk. The pole and transformer are designated for our neighbor's property, not ours. Although we were told earlier that we wouldn't be impacted, I returned home to discover the truck obstructing my driveway.

There are three significant dead trees near the power lines at our location. At present, two tree trimming trucks from JCP&L are on our street with multiple workers and equipment. Regrettably, they have informed me that they are unable to top or remove these trees as JCP&L has specific guidelines for tree trimming and removal. I am interested in learning more about the criteria used by JCP&L to determine which trees are eligible for trimming or removal. I am concerned about potential power outages and would like to have these dead trees addressed promptly.
