I have attempted to reach out multiple times regarding issues with the Duolingo Plus course in Greek. While I appreciate the structured approach to teaching, I have concerns about the lack of interaction on the discussion page and the repetitive nature of some sentences. The sentences like “I like to go to the park in the afternoon” become tedious without variation. The course seems to focus more on rote memorization than actual application of grammar. Additionally, there are instances of awkward English expressions that hinder the learning experience. Despite these critiques, I find the organization and coverage of various grammatical concepts beneficial. However, I wish there was more continuity between sections to enhance language proficiency. As a retired Speech and Language Therapist with a background in TEFL and Proofreading, I crave a more engaging and dynamic learning experience. I am eager to connect with course tutors and fellow Greek learners to enrich my learning journey. Thank you.
Best regards,
Sheila H. (with a Greek husband)

Dear Ms/Mr,
I recently received an email from you stating that my test cannot be certified due to the lack of privacy in the test environment. I would like to provide some context to my situation. Living in a condominium with two kids, it was challenging to ensure complete privacy during the test. Despite my instructions, my kids may have unintentionally disrupted the test. Given the current quarantine restrictions, it was not feasible for me to have them cared for elsewhere. My university recommended your platform as an alternative to the IELTS test, and I am keen on another opportunity. I am willing to book a hotel room for the test to guarantee isolation. Waiting for the next three months would not align with my circumstances, and I urge you to consider granting me another chance promptly. I appreciate your understanding and eagerly await your response.
Sincerely,
Shabnam Nezaratizadeh

I am frustrated with the Italian course and considering canceling my Plus membership. For years, non-American English speakers have pointed out that "We shall" or "I shall" are marked as incorrect. There seems to be no effort to correct this mistake. It concerns me that the platform is teaching incorrect grammar regarding the future tense. While these forms may not be common in American English, they are widely accepted in other English-speaking countries. Phrases like "Shall we go" or "Shall I go" are frequently used. Movies like "Shall We Dance" and songs like "We Shall Overcome" demonstrate the usage of "shall." Please address this issue promptly, or I will have to cancel my membership.

Hello, my name is Christine Franke from Germany. I recently had a Duolingo Plus account for two weeks. However, I received an email stating that my phone payment did not go through. I decided to continue using the app without Plus, but was unable to find a way to switch. I then tried to close my account, but I encountered issues restarting the app. After seeking help to switch to a program without Plus, I was informed that I could now use the app without Plus. However, my account seems to be closed and I cannot restart the app. I am unable to locate my email. Please assist me in restarting the app. Thank you. My email address is stinemay@[redacted].

Hello, I'm Jyoti Gupta, a teacher at an institute. I have students who encounter various issues with their Duolingo tests. Problems arise such as receiving invalid test results, glare on glasses being flagged, and being told to wear headphones during the exam. These inconsistencies frustrate my students as they often have to retake the test. I would appreciate receiving the proper guidelines from Duolingo to avoid these recurring issues in the future. Please provide comprehensive instructions so we can better prepare our students. I am eager to hear back from you. Thank you. Jyoti Gupta

I recently upgraded to Duolingo Plus and had been using it regularly until I missed a few days. When I returned, I was prompted to create a new account, even though I already have one. Each time I try to log in, it asks me to take a placement test and tells me to try again later. Prior to upgrading, I could miss days without this issue. I've been attempting to access my account for the past 5-6 days, which is very frustrating.
My email is mmars***@gmail.com and phone number is [redacted]. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this matter or a refund. I prefer the previous system that didn't have these login problems.
Thank you.

I decided to try out Duolingo Plus with the understanding that it was a monthly subscription, as that was the information I had. However, I was charged for the annual subscription instead. I have already ended my subscription since I did not intend to have the yearly plan. I am now curious to know if it was always an annual subscription from the start (as this was not explicitly clear) or if there is a way to adjust the payment to reflect the monthly cost only. I have only accessed Duolingo Plus in July.

Dear Sir,
I am Arya T Das. I took the Duolingo exam on July 26th. Today, I received an email stating that my result could not be verified because the test was not always private. During the exam, I was at my cousin's house as my home lacked a stable Internet connection. Regrettably, I forgot my glasses, which significantly affected my vision. My eyes became watery, and my vision diverted from the screen, impacting my exam performance. I understand the rules require undivided attention to the screen during the exam, and I deeply regret my situation. I kindly request that you consider certifying and releasing my result. I have medical records from an ophthalmologist recommending the use of glasses for screen time, which I forgot to bring with me. Despite the challenges, I assure you of my sincere participation in the exam. I appreciate your understanding and ask for a review of my case.

I have encountered some difficulties with the Duolingo Arabic course specifically in the "You and Me" section. There are a few glitches with the answers provided for certain exercises that are preventing me from progressing. I have tried reinstalling the app twice, but the issues persist. Here are some examples of the problems I faced:
1. The correct answer "ba3ad" was not among the choices provided for the Arabic letters beh, aiyn, dal exercise.
2. The answer "risugh" was not available as a choice for the Arabic letters reh, seen, ghein exercise.
3. The correct answer "baghad" was missing from the options for the Arabic letters beh, ghein, dal exercise.
Moreover, during a practice session, I encountered a situation where the correct answer "daamat" was not included in the choices given for the Arabic letters dal, alif, meem, teh exercise.
I have asked my Egyptian husband to confirm these issues, and he agrees that the website has significant glitches. I enjoy using Duolingo and would appreciate it if these problems could be addressed promptly so that I can continue learning Arabic through the platform. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hello,
I realized that I have not used my account for about 8 months and was surprised to see that I have been charged monthly during this time. There was some confusion with my daughter regarding the subscription. I would like to kindly request a refund for the charges. Although I may have signed up for a free trial in the past, I do not recall doing so as we were in Colombia at the time.
Upon reviewing my bank statement, I noticed a recurring charge for APPLE which I initially mistook for a different service related to my daughter's music. I have now learned that this charge was actually for Duo. My daughter has cancelled the subscription today. Please consider my situation when reviewing my request.
Thank you,
Donna W.

Hello,
This is Anurag. I want to address an issue I encountered with my recent Duolingo test. My test was not certified, and I was informed that it was due to the test area not being private. I was alone in my room during the test, so I'm unsure why this occurred. I reside in India near a main road, causing some external noise which is unavoidable. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with my test result or refund the amount. I'm eager to resolve this matter promptly.
Thank you.

Hello, I have noticed two withdrawals from my checking account that have been going on since April 29, [redacted]. These withdrawals are for $12.99 each month and I believe they are related to my son's Duolingo account through school, so I should not be billed for these. I have disabled a few accounts to prevent further charges and I would appreciate it if you could verify and deactivate any active accounts under the names of Bradley Zak, Claudia Benz, or Claudia Zak.
The accounts that I have found are as follows:
1. Username: ClaudiaBen276005 Email: [redacted]
2. Unused account under Claudia Zak using a Hotmail email address that was never used.
For my son, Bradley Zak:
Username: Kakashi Hatake Email: [redacted]
Received an email at [redacted]; please ensure these accounts are inactive and confirm once resolved. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Claudia Benz

I have noticed two withdrawals of $12.99 each month from my Bethpage checking account to Duolingo since April. However, my son already has a free Duolingo account through school, so I don't need to pay for another. I found a few accounts under different names and have disabled all of them to prevent further charges. The accounts in question are: ClaudiaBen276005 with the email [redacted], and Claudia Zak with a Hotmail account I don't use. For my son Bradley Zak, the active accounts are under the usernames Kakashi Hatake and an unused Gmail account, while the school email should not be charged. Please ensure these accounts are inactive and let me know the correct billing amount for one account for Bradley, excluding the free school one. Any charges associated with the school email should be clarified as we can't access it over the summer break. Kindly confirm if the charge of $25.98 for two accounts is correct. Thank you, Claudia Benz.

I have Duo on my iPhone linked to my Facebook account. After canceling the free Duo Plus trial, I decided to learn Spanish on my new iPad and used a different account. Despite being charged $80 for the Duo Plus subscription on my iPad instead of the free trial, I am considering keeping it. However, I now only have Plus on my iPad, not on my iPhone which is connected to my iCloud. I would like to merge the accounts to have Duo Plus on both devices under my Facebook account. My iPad subscription is under [redacted], and my iPhone is linked to [redacted], which is no longer valid. Although my account is now under [redacted], please contact me at [redacted]

Hello,
I am reaching out to inquire about receiving a refund for my canceled subscription to Duolingo Plus - Yearly.
Subscription Details:
Order number: GPA.3[redacted]-2[redacted]8
Order date: August 1, [redacted], 6:28:34 PM EDT
Email Verification of Cancellation:
- From: [redacted]
- To: [redacted]
- Received: August 15, [redacted], 9:42 EDT
I signed up for the 14-day trial of Duolingo Plus, which ended today and automatically charged me $89.87 for the yearly subscription. Due to a family emergency, I forgot to cancel the subscription at the end of the trial. Once I realized my error, I immediately canceled the subscription.
I understand that Duolingo does not typically provide refunds for canceled subscriptions, but I respectfully request an exception for a full refund of $89.87.
Given the current financial uncertainty during the COVID-19 crisis, the annual subscription fee is burdensome for me. If I had been charged monthly, it would have been more manageable. I would deeply appreciate a refund under these circumstances.
Thank you for your time and understanding!

I've noticed that the user "Adjjs2" who joined Duolingo in January [redacted] has an unusual learning pattern. Once, I observed that they earned over 1,[redacted] points in less than an hour, which seems impossible to achieve naturally. I'm worried that some users may be exploiting backdoor software to gain points unfairly in this course, which disrupts fair competition. I feel it's important to bring this to the community's attention in the hopes that the app designers can address this issue promptly.

My [redacted]-day streak got reset, but it should still be active. I had a streak freeze in place, which I used on Saturday, August 15. On Sunday, I managed to complete a lesson before the day ended, but I lost my valuable streak freeze. The issue might have occurred due to a syncing problem between the Duolingo app on my computer and on my iPhone. I was using both devices that day, but did a quick lesson on my iPhone. I suspect the Duolingo on my computer caused the problem by erasing my [redacted]-day streak. I even received an email on Sunday confirming that my streak was saved because of the streak freeze, and I did a lesson on Sunday around 7:10 P.M. I was well within the time limit to record my lesson on Sunday, so I believe my streak should still be active since I used the streak freeze on Saturday.

Hello,
Today, I attempted to create a Duolingo account on my iPhone to practice my French skills. However, I was surprised to discover that when I entered my email address ([redacted]), the system indicated that it was already in use for another Duolingo account. After resetting the password, I could access the account and found out that someone named Barbara (followed by a 6-digit number) had falsely claimed my email address as their own. The Duolingo interface switched to Portuguese, requiring me to translate it manually to understand what was happening. I tried to deactivate the account but encountered difficulty in doing so. The message on the deactivation screen was in Portuguese and asked for confirmation to disable the account, which I attempted but the system did not respond.
I kindly request assistance in removing my email address from this account so I can create my own legitimate Duolingo account.
Thank you,
-Babis

Hello,
A couple of months ago, I recommended the Duolingo App to a few friends in Miami who needed to learn English. I had previously used the free version of Duolingo while living in Brazil and found it very beneficial.
While I don't exactly remember how the initial free trial, which later resulted in a charge of $83.99, started, I promptly canceled the Plus Subscription when I received the billing notification. I attempted to contact Google and my credit card company to explain the situation, but it became a frustrating back-and-forth process.
I firmly believe that Duolingo is the best language learning application, and over the years, I have introduced many friends from different countries to your app and demonstrated how easy it is to learn a new language with just a few minutes of practice daily.
Unfortunately, I have been unemployed for several months due to the Covid situation and every dollar counts. I kindly request a refund for the accidental charge to my credit card. Thank you for your assistance.
