Notice Number: 01-[redacted]-[redacted], pertaining to my [redacted] tax return. The individual assisting me contacted me while I was in NY and confirmed that due to my unchanged income sources of SS and a small pension, I still had a credit from losses in [redacted] and [redacted], resulting in no amounts owed. She mentioned that if my situation remained the same in [redacted] and [redacted], I wouldn't owe anything further. I fell ill in NY and have since come to Idaho to recover with family. Once the current situation improves, I plan to return to California and resume work. I'm curious if you could handle my [redacted] and [redacted] filings or if I should proceed with them myself. I am eager to receive the stimulus check provided by the government. I have always handled my taxes diligently, despite the challenges of traveling and staying with family. I hope to receive guidance on resolving this matter promptly. Thank you, Mary Jane W.

In February [redacted], I moved from California to Utah. When I filed my California State Income tax for [redacted] in [redacted], I mistakenly paid to California instead of Utah. I am now being audited by Utah and owe them $[redacted]+ in taxes and penalties. I've resubmitted my California return for a refund but haven't been able to contact them. Despite proof that Utah received my tax return, they claim not to have it. My daughter, a tax preparer, has been unable to help further. I feel overwhelmed by the lack of communication between the two states and the growing interest charges. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

After submitting my [redacted] FTB tax return at the local post office, I realized that I made an error with the tax rate schedule which led to me expecting a $[redacted] refund but now I owe $66. The return was sent to the incorrect address meant for expected refunds. I plan to send a corrected return with the payment to a different address. I'm concerned if having two different tax returns with varying amounts due will cause confusion. Alternatively, I am pondering whether to do nothing and allow the FTB to rectify the mistake and contact me regarding the correct amount owed. Any advice would be appreciated.

I received a levy/lien notice and I need to postpone payments. I have been trying to reach the installment line at 1-[redacted], but I can't seem to speak with a representative. The automated system keeps directing me in circles. After spending two hours on the phone, I managed to reach someone at 1-[redacted], but they transferred me back to the same automated system. I have been unemployed due to COVID and it's crucial that I resolve this within the next week to avoid having my bank account affected. Please, I need assistance with this situation.

Our California Corporation number is C[redacted] for Villa de Alegria Condominium Association. The corporate status has been suspended since [redacted]. I recently reviewed the fee schedule from the Secretary of State's office and noticed the minimum tax penalty since [redacted] from the FTB, along with accrued interest and penalties. Our President, Bill Woods, and other interim Board members have been investigating theft and fraud by the former Treasurer, addressing property maintenance issues, and establishing assessments. There have been concerns about their actions to benefit themselves and collaborate with a questionable contractor. It has come to light that the Board members were not duly elected and have caused financial and reputational damage. We are currently assessing the situation thoroughly to understand the extent of fines, penalties, and outstanding taxes. I am diligently reviewing financial documents to determine the accurate state of our accounts and liabilities. It has been a challenging learning experience, and I believe that HOA management education programs could benefit owners and board members significantly. I am seeking guidance on the next steps to obtain a detailed account of our financial status. Thank you for your attention.

Regarding a Tax Return Change from the CA FTB with a revised balance, I want to address an issue I encountered. The notice claims I filed a Tax Withholding of $32,[redacted], resulting in a balance of $2,[redacted], which matches my filed return from TURBO Tax on 6/2/[redacted]. However, I did not receive confirmation from the CA FTB. I was expecting a refund of $1,[redacted], but now they request a payment of $2,[redacted] by 07/30/[redacted] according to their calculations that align with mine.
I suspect that someone may have fraudulently filed CA State Taxes in my name and received the refund, falsely inflating the withholding amount. There may also have been a claim for Unemployment Benefits with EDD, as my employer received a notification about it in March.
I attempted to establish a FTB account for Live Chat support but was denied access. Unfortunately, there isn't enough time to receive the required PIN for assistance.

Subject: Issue with Alleged Tax Bill for Tax Year [redacted]/[redacted]
I recently received a tax bill for the amount of $[redacted].73 pertaining to the tax year [redacted]/[redacted]. Although I have been living in Texas since [redacted] and filing my taxes there, I only received this bill at my Texas address on 8/19/[redacted]. Despite my efforts to communicate with the FTB employee, Brian from Unit [redacted], I have faced challenges in resolving this issue. Brian initially expressed understanding and intended to assist me by sending a form to clarify my situation. However, communication with him has been difficult as he has not responded to my recent attempts to reach out via fax.
Brian mentioned that the bill was initially sent to my previous California address in [redacted], a location I had moved from and ceased receiving mail. Subsequently, fines and penalties have been accruing on top of the original amount owed. Despite numerous calls to the FTB, I have struggled to connect with a representative due to automated systems and excessive wait times.
Brian acknowledged the error in the bill and agreed to place the file on hold. I am seeking guidance on how best to rectify this situation and communicate the accurate details to the CA FTB, given the challenges faced in the current communication process.

Regarding the reassessment of my tax refund, I am David F Sigel residing at [redacted] Nabor St. in San Leandro. My tax advisor, Mr. Larry Minney at [redacted] 6th St. in San Francisco, would like to assure you of the accuracy of his calculations. While currently occupied, he disputes the incorrect $[redacted] debt calculated by your team. He can be reached at [redacted] and is willing to discuss this matter with you. Thank you.

I recently got a Notice of Tax Return Change that doesn't include the court-ordered Pension Income split with my ex-spouse pending an approved QDRO. This split is not alimony or child support but an asset division of income. My ex-spouse reports her share of the Pension on her taxes. As of [redacted], a QDRO assigns her share of the Pension to her directly, leading to updated W-2's reflecting my portion.

My wife and I recently discovered an unexpected charge of $[redacted] from the tax board for the [redacted] tax year. We both had health insurance coverage throughout the year, but it seems the error lies in me forgetting to mark an "X" on side 3 of our tax return form. Despite our efforts of sending letters and 8 pages of fax, we have not received any response from the tax board regarding this issue. We are hoping for a review of the situation and a refund of the charged amount, as we believe this penalty is unjust.

I need assistance with the reissuance of my California stimulus check. I had to return the last one as I couldn't cash it due to poor quality. It has been 9+ weeks and I am still waiting.
Update: 3/7/22
I am currently in the 17th week of waiting for a check that was supposed to be issued in 10 weeks. I have no back taxes and have not received a clear answer. I have been put on hold for as short as 2.5 hours and as long as 4.25 hours, five different times. This situation is unacceptable and reflects poorly on our state. I believe more attention should be brought to how our tax dollars are being managed. Are there other cases of issues with checks or challenges getting them resolved like mine?

I established an LLC in California for my timeshare tour business in Florida. There is a disagreement with my parent company regarding processing credit card payments of $99 to $[redacted] in California for stays in Florida. I am the sole link to California in this business. The dispute centers around whether my LLC should pay California sales tax on these transactions. I sell the vacations over the phone in California, but payments are made by Florida residents for stays in Florida. Ideally, a confirmation department in Florida should handle the payment processing. I am unsure if there are any tax obligations on my end when collecting money that goes directly to the Florida company. Thank you for any advice.

My single-member multistate LLC, MOYFGA LLC, entity #[redacted]25, was suspended due to a lack of current tax returns starting from [redacted]. I believe I do not owe taxes for that year as I was scammed in a Ponzi scheme involving a [redacted] exchange, losing over $500K. However, due to my severe health issues including strokes, diabetes, neuropathy, and arthritis, I am unable to address this situation promptly. I need assistance in getting a reprieve from the suspension and guidance on paying any necessary taxes during this period. Despite numerous attempts to contact the FTB, I have been unsuccessful due to my disabilities. I have moved from Reno to Las Vegas for better support from my sons since 12/7/[redacted]. There has been a mix-up with my address. The confusion arose because my CPA accidentally used a different address. The local post office in Ramona, CA, where we reside, understood the situation and delivered important notices to our correct address despite the error. Although my tax office has now corrected the mistake, I have faced challenges explaining the issue to other parties who refuse to believe my address is accurate. Since my husband moved to this address in [redacted] and we have not relocated, it is crucial to resolve this matter promptly. I am mandated to make electronic payments, and not receiving credit for some of them is concerning. My address is [redacted] Chablis Rd Ramona, CA [redacted], which is correctly stated on all my previous checks. The incorrect number is [redacted], although thankfully no such address exists on Chablis Road. I seek assistance in rectifying this issue.

I recently received a letter from your office intended for my son's house last July. After he passed it on to me, I realized it was concerning our end-of-year statement from Social Security. Due to not receiving the statement, we did not file our income tax. Now, we are being informed that we owe $7,[redacted] because of an alleged $[redacted],[redacted] income, which actually came from a home sale. We were unaware of the need to update our address with Social Security, as we've moved multiple times without issue in the past receiving tax statements. I am curious if you have reviewed the correspondence I sent back and if you have addressed the situation yet. I am still awaiting a response and was hoping for an extension to gather all necessary receipts and documentation needed for our taxes, as I had requested in my previous communication.

I am puzzled to have received a letter from FTB California as I have never lived or worked there. I use someone to handle my taxes annually, and all my records have been in order. The numbers on the letter do not match any of my filings. Is this a potential scam? I have attached a section of the letter for reference:
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
FILING ENFORCEMENT SECTION MS F180
FRANCHISE TAX BOARD
PO BOX [redacted]
SACRAMENTO CA 94[redacted]
Why You Received This Notice
On 04/19/[redacted], a notice was sent indicating no record of my [redacted] California income tax return. As of that date, no return or evidence of no filing requirement was found. This notice is not a bill but proposes assessing tax, penalties, fees, and interest for the [redacted] tax year. Thank you.

I am extremely frustrated with H&R Block. My address was incorrectly entered for my taxes, causing me to miss out on my tax refund due to an error made by one of their employees. The H&R Block representative accidentally deleted my address from their system during the filing process, resulting in me not receiving the middle-class inflation relief I was entitled to. When I asked them to rectify the mistake, they claimed they were unable to do so and advised me to contact the FTB, which I find unacceptable. I expect H&R Block to correct my address immediately and send me the inflation relief check that I rightfully deserve.

I am inquiring about the status of my tax refund, which appears to be significantly delayed. I electronically submitted my state income tax return on 04-15-[redacted], and received confirmation the next day via email from the e-filing service used, indicating acceptance by California FTB. I tried to check the refund status on the FTB online service, but was unable due to the requirement of entering the exact refund amount, which is not readily available. The e-filing service, Cash App, which acquired the previously used Credit Karma e-file service, proved to be challenging to navigate and access. I prefer not to repeat that lengthy process to retrieve the refund amount. Despite lacking the exact amount, I am prepared to provide necessary information for refund status updates. Concern arises as I have never encountered delays in receiving my electronic refunds in past tax filings. The federal tax refund for the same filing date was received promptly.

I am inquiring about the status of my tax refund, which seems overdue. I filed my state income tax return on **-**-**** electronically and received confirmation from the e-file service the next day. I tried to check the refund status online with the FTB but couldn't without the exact refund amount, which I don't have since the e-file service I used, Cash App, was difficult to retrieve it from. Cash App took over the Credit Karma e-file service I used in previous years. I found using Cash App's service a frustrating process that took me two days to navigate. I'm hesitant to use it again to get my exact refund amount for my current tax return. Besides that, I can provide any necessary details to know the refund status. I usually receive my electronic refund promptly, so this delay worries me. Although my federal tax refund arrived two weeks after e-filing on 04-15-[redacted], I cannot reach an FTB representative by phone as the provided number is automated for non-tax practitioners and elected officials.
