How Do I Report a Virgin Mobile Service Outage?

Virgin Mobile is a wireless Telecommunications brand that has a presence in eight countries. The network functions on a franchise model whereby Virgin Mobile partners with a mobile virtual network operator in the country and offer their services through the network.

Virgin Mobile not only has great prices on devices but they also have data plans that are especially appealing since they can be rolled over from one month to another. The Virgin Mobile network has scores of Wi-Fi hotspots in whatever country the operate with over 3.5 million in the UK alone.

A Virgin Mobile Service outage in your area can be devastating especially if you use the Virgin Mobile network to conduct business transactions or earn a living in any other way.

Virgin Mobile customers are lucky, they can check if the service is available in the area using Virgin's service coverage map. You can check the map whenever a connection is down.

However, before you check the local Virgin Mobile coverage site, there are a several things that you should try to ensure that the service is indeed down.

Troubleshooting Solutions

Power Cycle

If you are having Virgin Mobile coverage issues, you should try the most ancient device troubleshooting solution in the book: turn your mobile phone off and then turn it on again.

If it does not yield results, try something else.

Reset Network Settings

You should also try resetting your network settings if you have no service. It will delete your current Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings.

The process is different for Android and iOS devices.

For iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click ‘General'
  3. Click ‘Reset'
  4. Click ‘Reset Network Settings.'

For Android:

  1. Go to ‘Settings'
  2. Click ‘Mobile Networks'
  3. Click ‘Network Operator'
  4. Select ‘Virgin Mobile'

Switch Phones

If there is still no signal after implementing the troubleshooting solutions above, you should put your SIM card into a different phone. Doing so will determine whether the issue is with the device or with Virgin's network.

If the SIM card receives service in the alternate device, then your device is the issue. If there is still no service, proceed to check your country's Virgin Mobile service coverage map.

Checking for Outages

Virgin Mobile's network may have an outage due to system failure or a network shutdown for planned maintenance. To find out if there is network outage in your area at that moment, follow these steps:

  1. Launch your web browser
  2. Open the local Virgin Mobile Coverage Map
  3. Click the ‘Outages' tab
  4. Input your current address in the empty address field and tap the search button
  5. Click an affected tower if presented with the option. You should receive additional information about the outage or planned maintenance. You should also be presented with the expected finish or resolve date.

If you still cannot find out if your area is affected by an outage or if the coverage map states that the service in your area is fine but you have no service, you should call customer care and report it.
