If you lose your Jio phone, you may be worried about many things like the money you spent or how you are going to get in contact with your friends. However, you should be worried about how you are going to avoid your SIM card from being used for fraudulent reasons. The good news is that Jio offers a one-click option to suspend services for all its SIM cards. This will prevent misuse of your phone if you ever lost it along with your SIM card. Therefore, if you lose your SIM card the first step should be to block your SIM card.

You can block your SIM card yourself on Jio's website or you can call a customer care representative to do it for you. You can then simply reactivate your SIM card once you replace your Jio phone. It is also prudent to report to the authorities if the phone was stolen. They will keep an eye out for your phone and may spare you the financial anguish of purchasing another Jio phone.

Blocking your Jio SIM card through Jio's website

You can suspend your SIM card using the Jio 'My Account' portal. It is crucial to note that a Jio username and password is necessary to access the 'My Account' section. Therefore, if you have never registered and created a Jio ID, you will have to use an alternative method to block your SIM card. Blocking your SIM card through the portal involves the following process:

  1. Launch your web browser and Open the Reliance Jio website
  2. Click on the 'Sign In' button and input the Email address and password affiliated with your Jio Account to sign into your account
  3. Click on the blue colored Settings icon (looks like a cog wheel).
  4. Select 'Suspend and Resume' and click it to expand the section
  5. You will be prompted to provide a reason as to why you want to suspend the service. They are only two available options namely: SIM Damaged and SIM/Device Lost. Select and click on the latter option
  6. Click on the 'Suspend' button to submit your Jio SIM card suspension/blocking request.

A pop up message will subsequently appear providing you with the reference number for your blocking request. Save the message on a secondary location as Jio may ask you for it when you try to restore Jio services on your new SIM card.

As stated earlier, if you do not have a Jio portal, you will have to contact their customer service department and have them help you block your SIM card. You can contact Jio's customer service in either of two ways:

Email

You can send Jio's customer care department an email notifying them that you have lost your Jio phone and subsequently your SIM card. When you send the email, be as concise and as descriptive as possible. Send as much personal information as possible and it is also prudent to leave a secondary phone number at which you can be reached. On the contrary, the email should not be so lengthy that it feels like an essay. Give it a conversational tone.

Phone Number

You can also call Jio's customer care department using their toll free number. The number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days week so you can reach them any time. You will barely have to hold on the line to talk to a live customer care representative. When reporting a lost phone so as to block your SIM card, be respectful and do not misdirect your anger. Give a number where you can be reached and receive confirmation of the blocking. Jio's customer care number can be retrieved from GetHuman.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Jio Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Jio in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if I lost my Jio phone? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
