How Do I Get a Refund from E.ON?

If you want a refund from E.ON, the procedure is fairly easy. In most cases, all you will have to do is get a current meter reading and request the refund. However, you may want to reconsider getting a refund if you plan to keep your account open, as positive credit balances tend to get used up over the course of the winter, when demand is high.

There are a few reasons why you might want to get a refund if you are an E.ON customer. It's very easy to get a refund. To learn what you should do in your particular circumstances, just keep reading.

If You Have Changed Suppliers

If you were an E.ON Direct Deposit customer, do not cancel your Direct Debit until after you have received your refund, because you will need it in order to receive your refund.

All you need to do is close your E.ON account and get your final read with your new supplier. You will be sent your refund within 10 business days, unless you have a credit of over £500. That may take longer to process.

If You Made a Payment in Error

If you accidentally made a payment that you didn't mean to make, you need to contact E.ON's customer service and explain the error to them. You will get a refund in the same form you made the payment. However, you will have to get a meter reading before E.ON can make the refund.

If You Want a Refund of Your Credit Balance

It's normal to have a credit balance after the summer months, when need tends to be lower. This balance will usually be used up during the winter months, when need is higher, so you may want to think twice before trying to get a refund on a credit balance.

To get a refund in this case, you first need to get an up to date meter reading. Then contact E.ON and ask for a refund of your unused balance.

If You Were a Business Customer and Have Gone Out of Business

Contact E.ON and let them know the date that you stopped being responsible and the meter reading on that date as well as a forwarding address. E.ON will close your account and give you a refund of your unused balance.
