How Do I Get a Refund from DISH?

There are multiple ways to get a refund from DISH. If you choose to cancel your service directly through their customer service department, make sure that they issue the refund as an account credit to your form of payment, rather than sending it back in the mail via check.

DISH is one of the most popular TV providers in America. They offer a variety of TV packages and bundles. So, how do you get a refund from DISH? In this post, we discuss what to expect if you request a refund for monthly DISH services or a refund associated with cancellation of your account entirely.

Contacting DISH

You can call the customer service number on your bill, or you can reach DISH via the company's online chat accessible from the company's website. Typically, if you have a billing issue, it's best to resolve it directly with DISH, rather than going through your credit card company for a refund. Most major credit cards offer buyer protections in case you don't receive what you paid for, but they often require you to attempt to resolve the issue directly with the seller first.

Your refund request can also be part of a request to cancel your service entirely. In this case, the refund can apply to the current month or the entire contract. If DISH agrees to cancel your service and provide a refund, they may issue the refund as an account credit to your original form of payment. You also have the option of requesting your refund be mailed to you via check, which may take over 30 days to arrive.

If DISH does offer to close your account, they may require you to fill out a cancellation form and mail it back to complete the process. They may also ask you whether or not you would like a final bill sent to your home after all of this is done. You don't need to provide a credit card number at this time unless you'd like them to charge your account for any outstanding balance automatically.

If the automated service asks for your billing information, make sure that all of it is correct, and then provide payment details. Be aware that if you choose to cancel your DISH service, you will be required to pay any final charges within 30 days.
