How Do I Sell Coins on Bisq?

If you are looking for a truly decentralized, 100% anonymous way to sell Bitcoin, then you should consider Bisq. While there's a slight learning curve, once you get everything set up, you can start selling your Bitcoin in minutes. Keep on reading to learn more.

Downloading and Installing Bisq

Because there is no centralized Bisq exchange, you need to download the Bisq software to set yourself up as your own Bisq exchange. Just go to the Bisq download page, select the right package for you, and download the software. Once it's downloaded, just click on it and run the installer. It may take some time to connect to the Tor network and then synchronize with the peer-to-peer network that Bisq uses, but that's totally normal.

Setting Up Your Bisq Account

Once you have downloaded and installed the Bisq software, open it. Then follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the "Account" button.
  2. Click on the "Wallet Password" tab.
  3. Enter a password in the upper text field.
  4. Confirm it in the lower text field.
  5. Connect your Bitcoin wallet to the exchange.
  6. Transfer Bitcoin to your Bisq account.

Selling Bitcoin on Bisq

Here are some steps to selling Bitcoin on Bisq:

  1. Click on the Sell BTC button in the navigational bar at the top of the page.
  2. Look through the various offers that are available to buy Bitcoin. They each have different terms.
  3. If you find an offer with terms you like, click on the "Take Offer" button next to it.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the trade.

If you don't see any offers that you like, click on the "Create a New Offer" option to Sell BTC for USD button before following the prompts. Then you just have to wait for someone to take your offer.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Bisq Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
