How Do I Transfer Money Online Using Ally Bank?

Online money transfers are one of the easiest and most secure ways to send money. Whether you are sending money to a friend or making a payment, when you send money online, it is processed faster compared to the more traditional ways of sending money. Using online ways of sending money cut on the paper trail associated with lesser methods of transferring money.

You can send money online using Ally Bank in several ways. They include:

  • Sending a wire transfer
  • Using Zelle
  • Using the account number of the recipient.

Sending a Wire Transfer

Before you send a wire transfer, ask the recipient to send you the following information:

  • Their account number
  • Their routing number
  • The name of the bank that is will receive the funds

When you get all that information:

  1. Log in to Ally Bank's online banking platform.
  2. Click on the "Send Money" option.
  3. From the resulting prompts, click on the "Wire Transfer" method.
  4. A form will be displayed. Fill it in with the correct details and ensure there are no mistakes that can prevent the wire transfer from going through.
  5. Sign on the bottom right of the form before you print the form. If the form is not signed, your wire request will be declined.

Please note that Ally Bank will verify that the payment order was authorized by you if it exceeds $25,000. You will receive a call on the telephone number you provided for your account.

Ensure that the account number and routing number you provided for the recipient are correct. If you discover that you entered the wrong details, call the bank's customer care number as soon as you discover the error.

Using Zelle

  1. Log on to Ally Bank's online banking platform.
  2. Click on the "My Account" option.
  3. Click on the "Payments" option.
  4. Select the "Zelle" option.
  5. From the prompts that will be displayed, select the "Send" option.
  6. You will then be asked whether to "Choose a Recipient from your Contacts" or "Add a New Recipient".
  7. Enter the amount you want to send.
  8. Review all the information you have entered and check if it is correct.
  9. A notification will be sent to the recipient once they receive the money.

If the recipient's financial institution is not on Zelle, they can still be able to receive the money if they:

  1. Go to the Android or iOS app stores and download the Zelle app.
  2. Provide an email address.
  3. Give basic information on themselves.
  4. Provide their U.S mobile number.
  5. Fill in their Visa debit card number or a Mastercard debit card number.

If you make realize that you made a mistake on the payment.

If you discover your mistake early:

  1. Log on to Ally Bank's banking platform.
  2. Click on the "My Account" option and follow the steps you had done before until you get to the "Zelle" option.
  3. Click on the "Actions" option.
  4. Click on the "Transactions Timeline" option, a "Scheduled" tab will then be displayed.
  5. You will have to choose to cancel or edit the payment. If this option is not displayed, the payment has already been processed.

Using the Account Number of the Recipient

  1. Log on to your banking platform.
  2. Select the "Send Money" option and choose the "Using Account Number" option.
  3. Enter the account and routing number of the recipient.
  4. Enter the amount you want to send.
  5. Click on "Confirm"
