To get an answer to my query regarding Hong Kong transit arrangements, and how to avoid Hong Kong Customs confiscating this expensive bottle of Whisky, if she purchases it In Sydney airport?*Alternatively, is there any arrangement whereby she can deposit it safely somewhere in the ARA zone, when she arrives in Hong Kong, in order to collect it again before she boards VA**** for the London boun... ... My daughter is flying VA** * VA**** on ** October from Sydney to London with a * hour stopover in Hong Kong.*She wants to bring me a very special bottle of whisky, which can be bought in Sydney Duty Free, but is not available in Hong Kong airport.*If she buys this in Sydney and has it sealed in a tamper proof sealed bag, also containing the payment receipt, she should be able to clear Hong Kong Customs with it, but will almost certainly have it confiscated when she attempts to clear departure Customs to board VA**** bound for London!*Her economy through ticket from Sydney to London entitles her to two pieces of hold luggage, but she will only be checking in one piece in Sydney airport.*Can she check in a second piece of hold luggage in Hong Kong for the London bound flight?*If so, should this be done at the Virgin Atlantic desk in the main Departures concourse in Hong Kong Airport, or is there a separate Transit Desk for this purpose - if so where is it located?*I sincerely hope that you are able to help with this request, as at AU$*** this is far too expensive a bottle to risk confiscation!*Kind regards*Roger E. This especially frustrating because...... Time is running short to resolve my issue - I also even tried to phone using the CallBack service, but it would only accept US and Canadian telephone numbers, not UK numbers!
They could make this right by.............responding with a helpful reply, and not pass the buck somewhere else, as I have now contacted Virgin Atlantic & Virgin Australia several times, but with no resolution to date.
I think that this is the first time that my daughter has flown with the Virgin Group, and we both value efficient and effective customer service, without being passed from pillar to post, with no resolution.*Also, I am considering flying to Sydney to visit my daughter on Virgin, and how this query gets resolved, may influence my decision!
I have tried various departments within Hong Kong airport itself, but to date have not received a sufficient reassurance to risk having a AU$*** bottle of whisky confiscated by HK Customs!
