The state of Arizona (ADOT) suspended my son's license during a visit to AZ, for a DUI offense, which then prevented renewal of his Texas license when it expired several years later. My son hasn't been in AZ since '**, lives in TX, and has not had any similar offense in TX. He has satisfied all of the AZ Court requirements but ADOT insists he must install a SmartStart in his car, twelve years after his return to TX.**Is there not a time limit on DL suspensions issued by other states? The SmartStart is costly, subject to abuse by the vendor, and seemingly arbitrary given the time since the discharge by the Court.**Does Texas honor DL suspensions by other States that appear to have no end? ?
I trust that Texas Department of Transportation (DMV/RMV) will make this right and come up with a resolution that is fair.
