The issue in GetHuman-derekty's own words
I sold a Warcraft account. The money was held in escrow for * weeks to make sure there were no problems with the sale, then released to me. A month later, the guy files a claim that his ebay account was hacked and the sale was unauthorized. PayPal then gave me a $*** negative balance, to repay the guy. I cannot get the account back, and did nothing wrong, but I am the only one who will be punished for this, as I will lose the money from the sale and the item that was sold, both. ... Case ID: PP-D-*********PLEASE REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BALANCE ON MY ACCOUNT! You are coming after the wrong person. I cannot re-acquire the merchandise that was sold, nor am I responsible for an unauthorized use of someone's account, especially considering that they didn't report it in a timely manner. You set my balance to negative, even though the dispute is not resolved, as if it has been decided against me and I have been charged for a crime someone else committed, am being forced to re-imburse money to a person who didn't report it for almost two months, and the only person who will be punished will then be ME--and I did nothing wrong! Go after the person who hacked the account, not me! I sold the merch, it is gone forever, I cannot get it back and I will not repay the money because I am not responsible for this problem. It was held in escrow for three weeks, during which time no problem was reported. What more can I do? I did everything by the book on my end, right down the line. The problem is not with me, it is with someone who apparently lives with their head up their ***, and someone else who hacked that person's account. This is a classic case of a time when the buyer's paypal insurance should kick in, and step up to rectify the problem. Somebody on your end, please get this thing taken care of and return my balance to what it should be. This is very aggravating and I am quite tired of waiting for what seems to be an obvious solution to be arrived at and implemented. Thank you.
There is probably nobody in the world who would think this is a fair solution to the problem, other than a company who was trying to avoid paying off on their buyer protection insurance. I'll bet every member of a jury would take my side, were I to sue Paypal for $** million for interstate wire fraud and larceny. Not that I would ever do that, of course. At least, probably not.
Either this problem should be solved by invoking PayPal's buyer protection insurance to pay the claim, or whoever hacked the guy's account should be tracked down and held responsible. I had nothing to do with any of that, and those who did are not being punished. I want a solution that is fair, that holds those who are responsible to account rather than attempting what boils down to blatantly stealing $*** from me because they are too cheap to pay an insurance claim.*August **, ****: PayPal has refused to resolve this situation in a reasonable manner. My negative balance remains at $***.
I have used Paypal for years, I don't remember how long. Ten years, maybe. Never had a problem.
I have contacted them by e-mail at least five times to explain the situation, which they should have understood from day one anyway. All I have gotten in return is generic replies sending me to their online FAQ.
I have an issue with PayPal too
