I’ve been calling the NYS Unemployment hotline for day and not being able to speak with representative. ... Just like everyone else In New York State, I can’t get through to anyone on the unemployment benefits hotline to “complete” my claim. I either get an automated Verizon message stating my call can’t be completely as dialed, all circuits are busy. Or I get through the first few prompts entering my requested information only to be told there is a high volume of calls and to try back. Then I’m disconnected. **
This governmental agency is not prepared or inadequately staffed to handle the the large call volume of calls due to the state of emergency our state and country is in. As a local state agency, it’s scary for the general public who count on these recourses to be available during times of national security and they simply are not.
Our local state governmental agency should be adequately staffed during times like these, as well as having an updated telephone operating system, where the general public should be able to either wait on hold to get through to a representative or have the choice to request callback from the next available representative.

I called the only other recommended agency phone number for the Unemployment advocacy center and was immediately informed by automated responses that they don’t handle or process any Unemployment Benefit Claims.
