If you are looking to apply for a payment arrangement be sure to pay attention to the payment extension dates and deadlines. If you are willing to wait on hold then you should call into the IRS and they will work with you one on one to set up a payment arrangement that fits your needs. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.

I am on a payment plan with the IRS for monies due on my **** tax return. I make my payments on line at irs.gov*payments. On **** I made an on-line payment of $**.**. Yesterday I received an email from the IRS indicating that the payment was returned due to an error with the account number and to resubmit the payment to avid interest and penalties. My checking account (and my bank - BB&T) statement indicates that on **** $**.** was paid to the IRS and the bank claims the payment went through and there was no problem with the account number. Yesterday I received an email that the payment wasn’t made and to resubmit the payment. Which I did. According to the bank this could be a scam. On the email from the IRS stating that the payment due to an invalid Acct Number Structure (RO*). But I received a confirmation number of ****-************ This payment was made on **** and then again on ****. Both payments were ousted to my account. Somebody told me thatthe email I received yesterday could be a scam. I’ve tried numerous times to contact the IRS but cannot get through to an agent regardless of which phone number I call My bank told me to contact the IRS about this immediately. Can someone from the IRS contact me at *******-**** ASAP?
