We stayed at this property in Ocean Park, P.R., & felt, it was not suitable. For the sake of brevity, the rental property was falsely represented. Entering the property, it had not been maintained & neglected for a very long time. Though, the beds & bed linens were clean, the interior was old & needs serious upgrades. The bathroom sink leaked during our stay. The counters weren’t too clean. The grill outside was not clean & was totally neglected. The landscaping was overgrown, we could not access certain areas of the yard, due to out of control brush. The coolers were dirty, as well. There were five guests, & besides the issues, decided to stick it out. We had plans & didn’t have the energy to hand over an itemized list, to the owner regarding all the issues. **The property listed a washer & dryer, but, that was not true. After contacting the owner about the issues, the response was, the cleaning person had been ill, which caused such issues. Of course, there wasn’t enough towels & linens, either. In addition to the cleaning person being sick, the owner stated, the description of the house, & its amenities, had not been updated on the Homeaway site, it seemed, this was true, along with the property. On Wednesday, the sixth day of our stay, the owner sent a crew to maintain the landscape, we had to be inconvenienced, the crew was at the property when we returned, encroaching on our time there, we couldn’t hear ourselves, with all the noise going on. The crew was shown all the concerns, & were surprised with the conditions of the property. The grill was thrown away & replaced. Three ** gallon bags were collected with debris & removed that afternoon. The housing projects down the street was cleaner, no disrespect to the people who live there. Again! A little too late! They even threw away the mop & broom, which were filthy & full of crud & mold. Again, we were disappointed, but felt, rectifying & seeking new lodging, would have been time consuming & would have robbed us, from our goal, to visit a sick relative & spend time together. I wrote the owner about processing the deposit in early April, a full six months before our check in, his response was lame & unjustified. Michael, if you want to minimize & trivialize this review, feel free, I have dealt with ‘slum lords’ in my life, you are very close to such an adjective, false advertisement, collect the payments, & ‘short end’ the renters on the back end. Of course, any kind of credit, for such inconveniences, is a moot point. Instead, on the sixth day, the owner stated, we could find another lodging, & he would credit us, for the nights we didn’t stay at the property, a whole two nights, but, we would have to secure lodging for two nights, a little too late! Just like slum lords operate. Homeaway, please be advised! We won’t ever rent from this site again. I believe, this property is listed on Trip Advisor, as well, as a Super Host! Someone is not keeping up with the reviews & updating the amenities of such properties. This is a shame! We work hard for our money, & expected a decent place for the cost of leasing the house. The crew took pictures of all the issues, to send to the owner, the owner insists, the rental property was fine—-typical ‘slum lord’ response. Michael, you should stay at your property in Ocean Park, maybe then, you could empathize with us! I’m hoping, the $*** deposit won’t be an issue to be credited back. Despite your neglect, we kept our ‘word’, & cleaned up before we left. FYI: the method of retrieving & leaving the keys is antiquiated & not safe. There are three other apartments for rent upstairs, & the conditions were similar. If, the property was not neglected & maintained, this review could have been avoided. I do not trust the owner to fulfill his end. Very disappointed!
