GetHuman4815789's Form request issue with HMRC from May 2020

Help with my HMRC issue
The issue in GetHuman4815789's own words
I recently received a form A* from HMRC as I am working part time, from the UK with occasional travel, to both France and Czech Republic. I do not work or live permanently in either coutry. **I submitted the form to the HR departments at both Universities I work for. France was no problem, social security deductions are no longer made from my pay. *Brno University in the Czech Republic told me that they cannot stop deducting social security*health care contributions unless they have a letter from HMRC UK to confirm that Brno University does not need to forward the deduction to HMRC in the UK. This is despite the fact that it states clearly on Form A * 'that I have no obligations to pay contributions to another state'. I have included the original message from the HR deparment at Brno University: **'The purpose of the A* certificate is one state of insurance. It should therefore not pay contributions to two States, but only to one, to the one designated by the A* certificate. It therefore pays contributions to one State, but from all the employment relationships it has. It doesn't matter if it's a DP* or a part-time deal.Confirmation of A* from the UK means that we pay from the Czech wage british contribution to the British social security institution. We therefore follow british legislation, which does not distinguish between dp*, DPP.' **Please review these details and advise me if I need a letter from you to confirm what HR in Brno are asking for, and issue such a letter if this is needed and justified in your opinion. *Many thanks. **Eddie Fisher
