I recently had a penalty issued for late filing of SA. Now I’ve discovered I also have a *% surcharge to pay. This is grossly unfair. My old accountants failed to do my SA believing my new accountant was taking over. This was after I had told both of them that the new accountant would only be taking over after the tax year had ended and everything was done and dusted. They failed to tell me they hadn’t done my SA and the first I knew was when the penalty came through the post. My new accountant swiftly got on with the said SA and submitted it to avoid £** daily penalties but I received the surcharge notice the other day. Can I have the penalties refunded please? This has caused me so much stress but I don’t seem to have a voice in the matter. Both accountants are blaze about the issue and just tell me I must pay. It’s just not fair that they can cause me all these problems and cost me money and I have no comeback.*Regards *Ian Bielby
