Ref a. member of staff at pay desk in womens wear and lingerie department (first floor) in Debenham's, Newcastle upon Tyne.*On Thursday, **st January last, I asked a customer assistant serving at the pay desk whether she could check the sizing of * lingerie items which had been substantially reduced. Difficult to see size underneath the words '**% reduction labels and I was carrying many bags in any case which were finely balanced in my hands..*Her response was delivered in supercilious and very unfriendly fashion effectively saying: 'Such a pity that I have to teach you that the size labels are inside the article of clothing'.*I took it the first time as she showed me what to do, but when she continued in a mocking way for a second time , I thought this is a bit much to be lectured by a woman who was at least ** years younger than myself on how to look for labels in clothing! I explained that I was carrying lots of bags but this made no difference - she was determined to undermine.*At the age of **, and having bought clothes for myself since the ****'s (!), I do not appreciate being treated in this very disrespectful and inappropriate manner by an unsmiling and utterly charmless individual..**Her name was 'Martha' (looking at her name tag) and I actually felt quite upset for a good few hours afterwards . Perhaps 'Martha' could receive some retraining in customer service..**Mrs. Christine Watson
