We stayed at AZ*** and requested a handicap room for *****-*****. My mother is a double amputee and my grandmother is ** years old so handicap was mandatory. My grandmother took a shower and as she got out to sit on the handicap shower chair it collapsed and she went to the floor having to put her hands and body in a defensive manner so she wouldn’t hit her head on the toilet. I was next door getting food at the time when my mother called panicked for me to come quickly to help my grandmother off the floor. Being **, she has weak legs and stage * kidney cancer so needless to say it was a deal to get her up. * hours later I finally accomplished it and got her to bed. Because we had traveled in a vehicle from Missouri to Arizona for a funeral and a baby shower my grandma was stubborn and over medicated herself instead of going to urgent care in fear they would keep her and she’d miss what we drove so far to do. In the morning I contacted the manager by the name of Jack. He went upstairs and assess the situation and immediately came to us reporting that whoever put the shower chair together did not lock the legs into place, he was sorry and that he would be willing to drive my grandma to the hospital . As far as offering anything that was the extent of it. My grandma has extensive bruising up-and-down or side her shoulder and is sore all over still to date. She doubled up on her pain meds sometimes more than that to be able to make the events and the drive home. I think it is out of line and actually sad that she had to go through the pain over the negligence of the hotel. Compensation for the stay was not even offered, just a hospital ride, and no accident report taken even though management admitted responsibility for wrong doing. In my opinion I think that’s the least they could’ve done. I need this to get into the right hands and be read by the proper person that handles this kind of situation or I will be contacting an attorney to get somewhere with what has happened. My husband and I are members of choice hotels and have always thought very highly of them until we experience how my grandmas fall happened and was handled. Jack fully took responsibility but the outcome is unsatisfactory by all means. I hope to be hearing from you soon so this can be resolved one way or another.*Thank you, Shawn Ann Karr
