The issue in GetHuman-mrsgoodi's own words
I would like to report an experience I had at one of your dealerships. The ad states Certified **** Cadillac Escalade *WD for $**.***. The dealer contacted me. I informed the dealer that the vehicle would have to be in my spouse name because I currently have * vehicles financed in my name and my spouse is unavailable to come in person due to work but is willing to provide permission via telephone and that I currently have been preapproved by my credit union. The dealer representative told me that was no problem in fact this is very common. I drove *.* hours to the dealership.*Red flags*problems:**. The vehicle did have the multipoint inspection however to be certified (as stated) the dealer wanted to charge me $*,***.**. The sales rep instructed me that it was fine they could send my husband the papers to sign and I would be able to leave with the vehicle without a problem even before they received the paperwork back. However another gentlemen came to me and told me that I would have to be put on the application (they were trying to get us financed through them by stating they could try to beat the credit union's rate). I explained to the man that I currently have * vehicles financed in my name therefore running my credit would not work. He assured me they would not run my credit. So I complied. It was getting late by this time and the dealership was closing. Well while he was out I began getting alerts to my cell phone from credit karma stating different companies (GM financial, Wells Fargo dealer, HA automotive investments) checked my credit report. When the man came back I asked him why did he run my credit? He stated he didn't I told him I was receiving alerts.**. The man told me that due to the late timing and no response back yet from the creditors I should just take whatever interest rate I was approved for and then refinance the Escalade at a later date. *I admittently refused and I took the keys to my trade in and left the dealership. **This was my first time looking for a Cadillac. I have purchased Fords, Mercedes, Range Rovers, Hondas, Audis and more from various dealerships and have never had this encounter. Is this how Cadillac dealerships lure customers in and try to defraud them? This is a Cadillac dealership and not a small off brand dealership.
